I'm not quite sure what else is expected of Benteke when the only way he touches the ball is from passes 50 meters out. The percentages are not in your favor and doing so even makes the Swansea defenders look world class. Its mind numbing to watch..

Hen - 6 could have done better for the second, but it's not an uncommon mistake for any keeper.

Kelly - 2 only for the cross that lead to the goal and a couple of balls into the box that we got on the end of. Otherwise a complete plane crash of a performance in every respect. Way out of position and played Rangel onside for the second

Delaney - 5 solid enough, not much got through, but didn't organise/command those effectively around him

Tompkins - 5 looks like an average defender, needs more game time.

Ward - 5 battled and looked to get forward, but is guilty of over committing occasionally.

Cabaye - 5 not an influence as a holding midfielder - far better pushed up the pitch as at Watford. Created the goal with a good long ball to Campbell.

Puncheon - 4 cannot be played with Cabaye as they both play a similar role. As a result looked lost. He is an expert in counter attacking and works best with three genuine outlets in front of him (Murray, Bolasie, Zaha). If he's pushed deeper and is not the main playmaker, he looks lost.

Ledley - 5 does his job but cannot do it alone. Cannot rely on Cabaye and Puncheon to be disciplined enough to do the simple/dirty work and so ends up trying to cover too much ground.

Zaha - 7 as our best player he needs to be on the right, or given the freedom to switch wings more often to get in the game. Second half he was great. Strength, determination and aggression. Got to the byline, put crosses in and scored a great goal. But for the first half, would have scored higher.

Townsend - 3 a complete enigma. All the ability, but seems to play his own game. Charged around like a headless chicken most of the time when he needed to keep the team's shape. Needs to be managed better to get him on the same wavelenght as the rest of the twam.

Benteke - 4 very isolated and which reflected his poor showing. Needs service or players closer to him who know how to play off him to be more effective.

Campbell - 6 gave it a go but is light weight and is really a poacher first and foremost.

Sako - 6 gave us more of a threat although looks cumbersome.

Allardyce 3 - needs to get up to speed fast as games and points are passing us by.

D'oh!

To be fair to Townsend the whole team should make a public apology for the performance last night. Apart from one sublime finish from Zaha there is very little to enthuse about.

Worrying if Benteke is out for any time. OK, he doesn't move about much and Campbell does, but Campbell has had just 2 shots in 113 minutes on the pitch this season. I know a lot of that has been a few minutes here and there, but still not exactly encouraging. I'd still like to know where Appiah is as he was in the 25 and was back in training in October so ought to be fit.

Hennessey 6 He wasn't amazing but dealt with some of the balls, shame i felt he could have done better for the 2nd goal.

Kelly 2 I think he is a real weak link and most teams know this. He does try but makes too many errors time and time again.

Tomkins 4 I didn't think much of the side and back passing for 60 mins and he was spineless at trying to make a difference for 60 or so mins but I think that he is a good player in general.

Delaney 5 I thought he could have done better like most the others.

Ward 6 Needs to play in his correct position and concentrate on game not 'supposed' supporters. I feel his heart is with CPFC though and tries every game even with mistakes. I hope he finds his top form again as I think he is a brilliant player

Ledley 4 I didn't feel he added much.

Cabaye 5 I think he plays much better when able to attack but needs to stop getting angry at everything and maybe focus his energy on leading the team.

Puncheon 2 I can't see whether he added anything to the game and I would have been happy if he was subbed.... I hate to say it but i feel he is a weak link, he has spells of brilliance that seems to come and go faster than an english summer.

Zaha 7 First half he was terrible but when put on the other side, looks formidable and has the drive to attack. I think people do not give him the credit he deserves, he does lose the ball when he takes on too much but he wins free kicks, scored a brilliant goal, scares defences, racks up the oppositions yellow cards and is vital to the squad. If we had a fast paced attacking midfielder, I think we would do so much better.

Townsend 2 - Plays for himself as far as I'm concerned, shows no love for the club and I would rather somebody who at least wants to try like Lee, on the pitch.

Benteke 3 If he put in as much effort as Campbell like he did for Aston Villa, he would be worth his price tag. I expect it is to do with him having zero confidence in himself at present but that cannot be an excuse on his wages. I do not agree with the 'If he is given the support he needs' as an excuse because he jogged for most of his time on the pitch. Like many great forwards (example) Murray poached goals through sheer hardwork and determination as well as having a footballers brain, I think Benteke needs a kick up the arse. When supporters have to worry about a £30 mil player taking a penalty and expecting him to miss or do that stupid slow walk up to the ball, it's not a good sign.

Campbell 6.5 If only he had some end product, his work ethic is great and to be admired, shame he just can't cut it.

Sako 7 I thought he worked hard and looked like a player that without injuries for an extended period of time, has potential if he is here long enough.

Mutch - Needs to be sold, I'm not sure what benefit he brings when coming on, is he meant to be attacking? Is he meant to be more defensive? Not sure what gameplan he brings because impact it certainly isn't.

I think we will stay up as I do still believe the squad has massive potential, just sweet FA confidence.

IMO the poor movement and leg weariness came from a thin squad and unfit group of players being run off their feet at at Arsenal. This was reinforced by the fact that Sako and Campbell looked our most lively players when they came on.

We had little height in the team as an option aside from Benteke and Delaney. Tomkins is really poor in the air for a CB and has no presence.

Despite having made some decent saves in games recently Hennessey doesn't ever come into his own at the business end of the game when you need him to and may have done better for the winner last night as well as those scored by United, City and Chelsea. Also the roll out in the first half ??

The number of points lost from missed penalties, goals conceded late in the game etc will be playing heavy on minds and undermining confidence and Allardyce has a huge job on his hands lifting the players.

Second half was better but more blood and thunder and a couple of pairs of fresh legs rather than quality.

Convinced many of the injuries are stemming from a poor level of base fitness.
