Pardew not wanting leaders like Jedinak ect makes sense due to his arrogant personality. Pardew wanted to be the top dog in the dressing room. Couldn't have players like Jedinak rallying the team instead of him.

One I can't work out is why he instantly wanted Speroni out that summer. Didn't Speroni play that half season under Pardew just after he took over. Pulis signed Hennessey who never played until Pardew's 2nd season. Macarthy came in as well and was chosen when Speroni was an option. Makes me livid thinking about it.

The whole goalkeeping situation since Pardew took over has been a disgrace. A fat gk coach, McCarthy? Speroni dropped? ridiculous. Again all Pardew. Hennessay is a good keeper but not a first choice in Prem.

I think it will be vital for Sam to motivate Scott Dann and get him leading the team as well as playing better than he has been.

Dann isn't a leader. The best can expect from him is to become a competent defender again. We need a new leader.

Sam is the exact opposite. He loves strong characters. I would beg Chelsea to loan us John Terry and make him captain. He will sort Dann out who will have to up his game with the ex England captain barking in his ear. Would also play Tomkins at right back. Ward isnt good enough anymore

Speroni I think was dropped because he injured his hand and hennessy I seem to remember did quite well when called upon so he remained the first choice. McCarthy was a joke, every time he was in goal he made a serious mistake. Liability. While Hennessy has made some bad mistakes in his time, no doubt he has done a very good job since being in goal this time round and looks a much better player. I think he should be first choice to be honest, hes improved loads. Mandanda didnt look that great, few good saves but also some silly mistakes. Would be a shame to loose him though, hes clearly a good keeper also

I think he led the defence pretty well... Until he was given the captaincy, unfortunately.

Also I haven't much cared for Tomkins performances at center back, so maybe he should be pushed to the right.

I think Sam will do this before a left back comes in and possibly after as well. Ease Tomkins over to centre back if another one doesn't come in. Delaney ageing etc.

Tbh I think this is one of the reasons for our defensive issues. Make-shift back four. We need two out and out fullbacks and another CB.
