I think it would be a little different if your boss said he and the company don't want you anymore and when your contract runs out you are jobless...then you get an offer to go to a smaller firm but you say na I want more money if I'm going to that??? I'd suggest someone who acted like that is either stupid or a moron.

And besides he isn't worth 7m and he isn't worth 40k per week so again I would say no to him.

Players like houses are worth what people are willing to pay.

That said, given his experience age etc I would suggest that given some of the prices for players now being quoted, he would be worth every penny of it.

Add on the £2m premium because it's this window and £2m because it's us and everybody knows how desperate we are then that's about right.
