I think we need to be spending another 30-40 million on top of schlup and jenkinson. Of course we need to stop letting a silly amount of goals in but we have been crying out for a proper attacking midfielder for 2/3 years now.

Need a CB - whether that is fonte or somebody else.
Need an attacking CM -

I would argue that we need two new CB's and another defensive midfielder too but us being in the position we are means we are probably going to have to spend more on fees and wages to convince players to come.

Otherwise i see it being a massive struggle...

As there was only reportedly £20m available in the first place, that seems somewhat unlikely, especially as we've already spent £9m to £12m, depending on which report you believe.

I think Evra would be the best signing that is supposedly in the works. He has a wealth of experience, still plays at a high level and is meant to have a great personality which is undoubtedly needed at present.

This is the guy who instigated the French team's strike at the World Cup in South Africa, encouraging them not to get off the bus. Show's he's a leader, maybe, but still...

It's my guess that seeing the state that the team is in Steve Parish will check down the back of the sofa and will undoubtedly find some more pennies down there.

I also wonder if Kaikai puts in a good performance tonight whether that means the end for Townsend which should free up some more cash

Possibly, but Kaikai is predominantly a RW and we'd just be swapping the Zaha/Townsend problem for a similar one, and having to play one of them in their less strong position. I'd rather we tried to sign a proper left-sided winger, but Kaikai would be a more welcome addition as well, rather than Townsend.

According to the media we launched a failed £8m bid for Lookman of Charlton a couple of days before deadline day. Everton snapped him up last week and he scored within 5 minutes of coming on as a sub

No doubt we'll get a chance to see what we missed out on Saturday.
