High Flying Eagle - read your posts on Allardyce and you've made me register and make my first post. We've had manager issues for as long as I can remember. Bruce walked out, Dougie walked out, Holloway did the honourable thing and walked before being pushed, Warnock shouldn't have arrived, Pulis was fantastic but corrupt. Pardew was amazing for 2 halves of a season but his track record as this level caught up with him. We are left with Sam. I personally don't like him the England episode is shocking and I am worried by his latest press conference as he seems resigned to covering his arse and saying he has come into Palace much later than he did at Sunderland. At least he is correctly aiming criticism at the players which Pardew never did. The answer isn't to be a knob and slag off the new manager when he has inherited this mess but to get behind and the team and hope for better results. I was sitting in the West Ham stands today as wasn't planning on going until offered a free ticket and was really proud and happy to hear Palace fans singing their hearts out when the Wet Spam fans were deathly quiet despite their lovey shines free stadium. Get behind the team and don't get delusions of where we should be and come what may be PALACE!!!

The difference is when Pulis came here he had a lot of honest pros with limited talent who bought into his methods. What Sam has quickly found out is that we have some Billy Big Bollox players who will not get their knees dirty for the cause and hes only got two more weeks to weed them out

I suspect that is a large part of the problem.

If we can get two full backs and a center half I think we will be much better off.

If Schlupp is to play at full back then we need another LM, a right full back and a center half.

Without that I think we will be relegated, and even with that I think it might not be enough.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

We got promoted on passion and team work, we stayed up by playing to our strengths and working as a team, that passion shone through.
Pulis wasn't pretty, but he knew what was needed but he also knew who we were. Blood, sweat and tears. It's old school, it only gets you so far, but it's effective.
Pardew came in and he kept us up, in style. The passionate, well drilled defense with a boost of a new manager and confidence allowed us to shine, it worked. We played without fear and we had a sense unity.
That summer, instead of more of the same, AP felt it was his time to shine 'look what i can do when i am backed by the board and the fans love me' rather than 'ok, how do we carry this team forward'.
We bought in Cabaye and he was the new mould for palace players, he raised the bar and he was the bench mark.
Well, he didn't earn his crust at palace, he didn't get palace to where they were but he was expected to take them forward. The club had a good start and then injuries and cups ravaged the league campaign.
Cabaye dipped in form - he wasn't even playing his preferred position and others were expected to carry him, AP calling out other players performances, stating they wonder why they aren't on Cabaye's wage.
Then this season, a whole new style of play was expected to happen within weeks with the addition of two/three players from players that 4/5 years ago were sitting on the bench at championship clubs (DD, Yala).
Investment at the right time wasn't made after Pulis and expectations were too heavy for some players, attitudes dropped and characters changed.

Now, we have a new manager with a new philosophy, with championship players and journeymen, along with a few jaded players.

It's going to be tough.

This was once a quality forum....

I've watched every Palace H & A for the last 5 1/2 years, so I am right behind the team............and I'm entitled to my opinion. BFCS should never have been appointed, he's money mad !! just like Rednapp. Given a chance he will do a Portsmouth and sink the club finacially and football wise.

He is ALREADY making excuse after excuse and its a FACT that the improvement has not come and we are playing much, much worse than we were earlier in the season.

Unless Sun. Hull or Swan get lucky i still don't think we will go down this year but in SPITE of BFCS not because of him. I have no delusions we are were a Yo Yo Club but we are losing oour soul
