Most enjoyable time for me since we've been up in PL to be honest. Found it incredibly exciting to go completely against the run of play and beat a team that had been dominating us. What football is all about.

Football under Pulis was much better than he is given credit for. I am sure that there were some dire games but I am struggling to think of any

the dignified don't even enter in the game

A lot of the games we won 1 nil were dire...I remember Villa, Hull, and I think another at home where we were outplayed by better teams and let them dominate and then nick a goal at the other end. Very effective mind you.

Did have some other games where we played well though, WBA, Chelsea spring to mind. Crystanbul we were actually shocking for the first 75 mins, could have been 5 or 6 down. Amazing last 15 though!

Back when Punch was at his best and had an actual goal threat. God how we miss that.

Pulis was playing some ruthlessly efficient football with us near the end. But the Palace that Allardyce and Sammy Lee have been talking about experiencing was the Pardew team of 2015. So that included Bolasie and Zaha, McArthur. One players absence that is overlooked these days is Chamakh's, didn't play much in 2015 but was capable of opening up the pitch like not many others I see even today in the PL.

Schlupp is here to replace what went with Bolasie. We need McArthur but we also need a competitor for his place or someone to step in when he's injured.

It's impossible to recreate that promotion feeling and underdog status, most of that team is gone, only Ward, Delaney, Zaha, Speroni are left, the reality's changed since. Even the backroom staff, stadium announcer, club owners, all changed.

The point is if we want to move forward we can't keep doing the same old options. We lost a huge opportunity when we sacked Pardew...Take a look in what Hull done... Young and talented manager. Marco Silva is from a new wave. Us instead keep insisting in old blocks with football ideas from 20 years ago. Maybe I'm bias but when we see the work of Carlos Carvalhal with Owls it's another great example of modern managers

I doubt the board see Allardyce as the way forward in footballing terms, but they needed to make an appointment with a proven record for PL survival and Allardyce has that and was available. There'll be plenty of time for experimentation when we're properly established and have or can afford the squad for it.

You only have to look at WBA and how they are doing, look at their results not many 1-0 there.
I think with time Sam will organise our defence to become a solid unit. Having the players up front we have and wingers will make us a threat going forward too. What we lack at the moment is organisation and a leader on the pitch. Vital if we are going to stay up.
