Well done on the win today and good luck in the next round against City. Hope Big Sam keeps you up. Always had a lot of time for Palace fans but some of the posts I read on here are pretty disrespectful to our club and it makes me wonder how many of your fans have lost a sense of reality. Calling us "league one s***e" and other disrespectful names is not something any team who has held its own home and away deserves.

Well said .... and best of luck in the League. I very much doubt we'll be going much further in this Cup competition.

Apologies for the above. So called football fans sometimes forget they need other teams to make it a sport.

Having just got home from the game I can say that there was very little to choose between the two sides and Bolton had 2 or three really good opportunities to score in the 2nd half. Yes Palace had the lion share of possession but we really didn't create much. Anyone know why the goal was disallowed on the first half. I couldn't see what happened from the Holmesdale?

Not sure how many posters on this thread were at the game, I've just about thawed out now.

I thought Flamini played well and lasted the full 90 minutes. My MOTM.

Kelly didn't especially impress me at centre back he seemed to get under the ball a number of times, heading it up rather than away. Not convinced.

Speroni had very little to do and had no chance with the goal.

Townsend showed one or two flashes (playing mostly on the left) and his cross led to the second goal, but generally he was a mixture of OK and rubbish.

Benteke showed he can score headers given the right service. Got between two defenders, climbed well and powered it home. Second goal, the cross was behind him but he controlled it and thumped it home on the turn. Not sure he'd get that much time in the Prem but a decent goal.

Remy showed some decent touches and but didn't ever looking like scoring, still needs more game time to get properly sharp.

Kai Kai started brightly and was willing to have a go but I thought he faded badly in the second half.

Palace didn't play especially well but neither were they 'hanging on' as one poster suggested.

Bolton threatened two or three times and with a second goal could have gone on to win. Don't think they would have deserved to win but they could have done. Certainly a decent goal for them.

Better than Swansea and a win's a win. Something to build on but a long long way to go.

Goal was disallowed for deliberate handball which is why Ledley was booked.

Well I only had the radio commentary to go on but from that it did sound as if they came close to an equaliser twice in the last ten minutes or so.

Then again if Kaikai's free kick had gone in we might have spanked them.

I was there. I thought Townsend did ok, with a few crap moments. He was a willing runner all night. Flamini great cross for the equaliser. Not a great game but we are in the next round and Benteke would have benefited from those 2 goals. Nice to see us win and come from behind. Their goal was another cracking finish

Bolton had a volley that went wide and an effort at the near post also wide and Kelly made a block that deflected a shot wide which Jules had covered anyway. That was about it. They scored with their first shot and it was a cracker. We certainly were never hanging on.

Flamini MOM for me too - really looked the part towards the end dictating play & positioning to the rest of em & trying to manage the game.

Overall, an improvement. Better effort & whilst creativity was lacking their confidence seemed to grow. Especially good to see them pick themselves up after going behind. Even Benteke looked like he was playing for his place.

Folk on here seem to underestimate Bolton. They looked every inch an Allardyce type team - very well organised, high work rate & determined not to concede. Clearly came with a defensive game plan & to try & nick one on the break or from a set piece which is exactly what they did. The free kick was well executed too. I see no reason why they won't win their league & reckon they could compete in the championship.

I'm watching TV still wrapped up including woolly hat - chilled to the core! Was glad to be there though - interesting to see a changed lineup and what they could do.
Agree with player assessments and flamini being motm - was a leader on the pitch and delivered perfect measured cross for Benteke from just in front of where I seat - looked up, took his time and placed it - not usual hoof it in we get from others. Great touch and reading of game - was yelling at defence and midfield all game - glad to see and would give him more games. Worked well with Lee who was usual bustling self - mobile and positive. Fryers had pretty good game too - has come a long way (or everyone else's level has dropped!). Thought Townsend was alright (certainly trying harder) and on orders to practice his crossing from left - did more from there tonight than any other time and could make it work.
Overall reasonably satisfied but still gave far too many easy opportunities - we have to keep concentration and increase the energy to close down and cover those moments.

I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.

By the sounds of it Flamini had another good game, he needs to start from now on, Ledley and Cabaye don't have the positional sense to play in that role. We do need another midfielder in the window but for the moment he will do.

How were Lee and Loic?
