Kermit you have changed into Mr Super Negative.

A bit like QPR would have been SP paying Jenkinson what he wanted and not what SP wanted.

We have looked in the lower divisions and the players are deemed not goodenough hence out on loan.

I just think we have lost sight of who we are and our core values. Young players, lower league players, a couple of higher league cheap cast-offs and a few spirited oldies have always made up the very best Palace teams.

Alan, we've always been generally crap when we have entered the big transfer money markets apart from Nigel M and I am surprised Parish and you have forgotten this.

Our big purchase system is flawed and has been for decades for whatever reason.

If someone paid £9mill for Mutch you would think they were mad, right?

Schlupp may be a great signing but I am sure there is better value to be had generally looking abroad and in the lower divisions.

We are starting to have a bit of the QPR about us which is concerning but not as bad as they were of course.

I don't think there's much difference in value when you're looking in the Championship though. Is playing week in week out for Leeds (using Taylor as an example) better than playing sporadically for Leicester in the Prem?

Both would have commanded similar fees, and both are young (Taylor 23, Schlupp 24). Would Taylor at £9m have been much better value than Schlupp at £12m?

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

That would depend on whether Taylor was regularly getting MoTM awards and looking like he should be playing at a higher level. That's what happened with Dele Alli at MK Dons.

If we went lower league I would expect the very best from that league to be signed. The risk then is low and the value potentially very good.

I honestly don't think we have a proper scouting system in place at the club which should have been a basic requirement from when we got promotion.

Firstly we haven't paid £12 Mill for Schlupp. Regards Taylor, I have no idea what price Leeds would put on him - all I know he has been out injured for a while and that Berardi has been filling in at left-back.

Correct.

Obviously the cheaper the better, but Palace have a small hardcore and if it had been a tenner on the night 14,000 would not have turned up.

£25 for Man City already has Holers moaning.

The club is trying to move up the League and is obviously struggling at the moment.

The prices are crazy at the moment but that is the going rate.

I haven't forgotten that our big money signings have been useless in the past.

Especially my mate KUQI.

SP backs the Managers he agrees to the signings of Cabaye,Benteke etc.

As long as Benteke gets the service he will score.

Cheer up.!!!Its only a game.

Could be pointed out though that 'the very best Palace teams' have also never tended to hang around in the top flight.

I'd love it if Keshi Anderson and Sulley KaiKai were the answer. I'd rather watch them succeed then a big name signing, but I just don't see how it's realistic.

I'm sure the club would love to survive on lower league gems and academy players. But academy players of Premier League quality are extremely rare, and everyone in the world knows we're one of the richest 50 clubs in the world, so there won't be any more picking up Joel Ward for £300k. Instead it's going to have to be £5-10m on pretty much every signing as a minimum. Higher league cheap cast offs don't really exist at this level either?

We're still signing younger players. Sure, Cabaye was older, but Benteke (26) Souare (26) Schlupp (24) Townsend (25) Tomkins (27) could all feasibly play in this team for the next seven years.

But on the HOL you have the majority of people moaning all the time.

Anyhow if trying to stay in the Prem is putting up with s*** don't go.

The club has had many dark days in the past.

I went to Bolton, I supported the team, I don't make a big song and dance about attending. Doesn't make me a better fan than anyone else and I won't judge people who don't go, I'll leave that to you.

Exactly. That's why it's turned into a Schlupp/historical palace problems with high value signings thread. Some trying to create an issue.

SA has been like this before in dugouts etc. It's not new. I think he goes by the 'well here is the team and this is the strategy to beat this specific lot or not lose' strategy. 'You prove or get hooked today or replaced very soon.' When the changes happen so does the strategy.

I prefer the Pulis style of kicking every ball in his head but there are individual styles and Pardew arms crossed with pen and paper and using the crowd and chairman for thumbs up wasn't working, no?

People are comparing 1 month with Sam to many with Pardew's 1st halves wasted every single week. We need a result no matter how. We've had it happen to us and heard the oppo manager say as much after. Remember Benteke for Villa on Scott Dann or Defoe for Sunderland on the halfway line? One of those and and another result close to that and we'll be on our way. SA can't rely on the end of season though. Newcastle rolled over at Villa in their penultimate match for some reason and Sunderland tore Everton apart midweek and that was that.

There was only one manager, in recent memory, that had the courage of his convictions to jump before he was pushed for us and that was Holloway.
As much as I didn't want him as our boss and all the faux pas he made after that little scumbag Freedman left us, and whatever we thought of his tinkering that almost left us from dead cert promotion certainties to play off outsiders, he masterminded our fantastic win at that soulless Falmer Bowl.
And then go on to beat Watford in the final.
I could never have the hump with him after that.

Come now. This is HOL where probably over half of all posts are complete rubbish and everyone seems to have their own preconceived ideas that they like to present as fact.

Palace fans like to think of themselves as the best fans in the land as they are frequently telling the world but in fact the opposite is true. There is more to being a fan than imitating a troupe of monkeys with their leaping around and constant gibbering. Proper fans support the club and team and don't constantly refer to the club's manager in such defamatory terms on the internet as many on here do.

But it *is* interesting that the OP hasn't come back to defend or justify his assertion.
