Parish knows what he's doing and anyone we buy now, will be with the Championship in mind as there's every chance we'll be playing there next season. So, he won't be be cornered into paying ridiculous wages and good on him for that. We've had 4 seasons in the top flight, and we tried to change to quickly in a short space of time over the last year. It hasn't quite worked out as mistakes have been made but that's life. Due to our legacy and weak infrastructure we had to roll the dice a bit to make the jump .. I think he's done and is doing a brilliant job all thins considered. People's frustration at him is short sighted and ignorant IMO. Look at our club compared to others FFS?! Look at other bigger clubs than us with massive support and history residing in the lower leagues! Not quite sure what people really expect bearing in mind the limitations we have to work within. Unreal ...

Unreal ... It's really because we should never have got ourselves in this position. From the mistake of the Adebayor window 12 months we should've recognised not having good cover for all positions, even if some jigging around was needed. We went into the season with 6 defenders and Zeki Fryers and effectively no left back cover at all. And then then instead of playing Ward there he destroyed Kelly and our points tally for 2 months. A lot of this could've been avoided and improved by sacking Pardew in May. We have got here by taking chances. Similar chances to the Adebayor window when we had to adhere to FFP but still paid Adebayor £67k per week. The same FFP where our net spend was £10k in August and we have £20mil or so to spend now plus wages. The very money we could've used to address the issues we knew about then, but took the chance with and are now in the sh1t struggling to sort it out.

An excellent and eloquent post, and a very clear analysis. The board's eye has been off the ball for a long time to allow us to reach the bottom three. It is not a popular view on these boards, but some have been very clear about the shortcomings (fitness, AP, team selection, transfer policy, lack of scouting and premier league coaching resource, old boy network etc) for a year now. And it really doesn't mean that we love Palace any the less, or that we want anyone to fail. Far from it, we know well how much has been achieved since 2010 - we just don't want to lose it. Good luck Sam, and SP/2010. We can do this.

I remember walking out of Wembley and being deviated but more than anything so annoyed with Pardew and his moronic tactics and behaviour! With regards to Parish he needs to get his head down and sign some players and try to put this right! What he should not do is go on talk sport after we win 2 games and blag about how amazing we are etc etc! Big Sam will do this! He will!

People who say nobody questioned the transfer window in the Summer are lying and are the very people I argued with about how the story things were good but they left us short and again, vulnerable. That vulnerability is going a long way to getting us relegated. And of course Pardew.

I think you are forgetting one big factor in your "Real World" and that is SP now has the American's to help run the club and have a say in what goes on as they have put money into it. I get fed up with all the people who blame SP for keeping AP in his job. If you and they bothered to listen to SP in his radio interview a few weeks back he explained the reason for keeping AP on rather than as you say after 3 months or more of cr@p results giving him the boot.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

Holloway had to beg to get fired. There wasnt a single other premier league chairman who would have hired Neil Warnock. I hate to harp on, but do you understand how bad Alan Pardew was? We had the worst record in all professional leagues in the country. Our points per game ratio was utterly abysmal. There isnt a single other premier league chairman who would not have fired Pardew sooner. In some cases months and months sooner. Meanwhile Pardew went about shattering the confidence of players like Dann and Townsend, turning over-performers like Ward into also-rans, and destroying every vestige of the resolute back four that we had under Pulis. Its too late to "still be learning", or we will learn ourselves right into the Championship. What is done is done and I want us to move on and be successful but again the same mistakes are creeping in. We need to sign some players, sometimes a new manager appointment and a new player singing is much greater than the sum of its parts, it spurs a reaction in the team and you break out of a slump. Is it not utterly apparent that we need a major shot in the arm? It didnt happen with BFS being appointed and now we need the chairman to inject that impetus in the only way he can in January, sign some players please and stop dithering. Parish now is the most important person in our fight to stay up as Allardyce is struggling so far and hasnt gotten that reaction he usually gets. Performance was better against the toffees but its another loss and another late goal. We barely had a shot on target. Mr Parish needs to act decisively, its too late now for the games already gone in January and those possible points, but assuming we lose to Man City if Parish can get 3 more signings over the line we can still save ourselves. But for pete sake, please act decisively and go and get some deals done for the sake of our club.

What did Parish say regarding not sacking Pardew? A wage policy of £130k and then a few on £80k. This I am not specifically criticising but it is a fault in your post. The problem is that we don't get vulnerable areas covered. Instead we chance it led by the ultimate football manager chancer. The 2 of them were too cosy with Pardew acquiescing Parish and probably the same in return, hence the ridiculous extension at the time of intentions to play whatever it was he promised that turned out to be slow sideways passes at home and desperate attempts to get back in the game away, then to achieve that and throw it down the toilet every week. Why why why the extension? Did Parish say why he had to offer it?
