In that case the armed forces need to be training (If they don't already) men & women how to return to Civvy St with skills that will help them.

Probably need psychotherapy first for some but I get the impression that once they take off the uniform that is it as far as the MoD is concerned and charity help or ex-services associations is their only recourse. IMO the majority of them have mental issues. Lets face it those sleeping rough on our streets, in shop doorways have got to have severe issues as its not a safe place to be and they must be at their lowest point that they just give up. Majority of the places that looked after mental health patients have closed now and its left to either family members to care for them or they end up in NHS hospitals, Prison or on the streets. I agree with what others hinted, We need to look after our own first. A fella in Dartford aged 94 had been lying dead in his flat for two weeks, Seems he fell and broke his hip and unable to raise the alarm slowly died. His family had een asking for warden assisted property for him for the past 3 years but nothing avaliable.

Perhaps , if his family were so concerned for his welfare, they could have clubbed together and paid for him to have an alarm pendant to hang round his neck and alert a central control if/when he had a fall or was in any kind of need. Or they could have just taken turns and phoned him every day to ensure he was ok ......... Much easier to blame the council for not giving him a warden assisted flat though, isn't it?

I know some people want to go further than that, but I'd want us to support anyone of any background that is now in the UK. I just personally want us to be cautious about increasing that number until we have improved our ability to support the people that live in the UK right at this moment.
