The personality and political bent of historians has a big effect on the interpretation. You see this a lot in contemporary historical documentaries and books. The same must have applied to historians of the past. Of course, their work is reinterpreted for each generation.

What will they make of Ancient Aliens on the History Channel in 1000 years, that is the big question.
