Nice piece with Jimmy Mac and Luka.

Then on to the SP interview.

Now, we all know that CPFC 2010 saved the club etc but am concentrating on the proposed new stand.

Supposing it ever goes ahead, cheapest build cost I have seen quoted is 75 million for 7000 extra seats probably excluding corporate boxes.

Suppose average cost of ST when it opens is 800 quid so 25% up on now more or less.

If all ST sold then gross annual income from that is 5.6 million, other sources of revenue over 19 PL games and possibly 6/7 cup games, other sales and facility renting might bring that to 10 million before any expenses or running costs.

That might create a scenario of a 10 year period to recoup construction cost.

SP said that all clubs have similar TV revenue therefore other sources of income, i.e ticket sales and others are very important.

For PL TV revenue this is not correct , last year Man City had some 40-45 million more PL TV revenue than Palace.

I am basically concerned this is a vanity project which could put the club into financial hardship again unless we have some deep pockets buyer come in.

My assumptions could be rubbish, I am not in the know other than public domain stuff but coming off a 35 million loss year I can't see how we can fund the build and in any event may need to sell a gem or two to standstill.

Happy for someone with better info and understanding to point out I am wrong.

Now back to hoping BHA lose today and Cardiff win

SP said excluding the top 6 TV money is not much difference for the rest. Therefore adding an extra £10m to £20m revenue per year is surely a good thing and is definitely not a vanity project.

How we pay for each is a good question - it was mean to be via the Americans - who knows now.

Perfectly reasonable concerns, but I trust the board. They've gotten us this far and have always been far more financially reliable than Jordan & co. Remember the council would never have approved the plans so unanimously if there wasn't a secure funding source in place.

And as for selling players, we all said the same thing about Bolasie back in 2016, we brought in Andros for a third of what we sold him for. Didn't turn out too bad for us did it?

It's important to remember FFP rules and that the club needs to increase the amount of revenue that it generates before it can start to invest more in the team. Therefore a large initial investment in the new stand (money that otherwise could not be spent on players/wages due to FFP) will bring a vital increase in our wage/transfer fee spending power in the long term.

Thatís whats so disappointing about where we are as a club. So much investment into the squad we are now at a point where even with billionaire owners we cannot spend any money. Apart from player sales we have no additional income for recruitment over the summer. We are up to our eyeballs in FFP. God only knows if this bloody stand will ever happen but itís the only way forward for us as a club thatís for sure.

FFP might be a factor, would be great if someone here could put together an informed cost/benefit in simple terms.

As I said in my OP, happy to be wrong but concerned it's simply not viable financially.

Let's see SP and the board trying to line up for a piss in the AW toilets at half time before peddling the new stand. We're the Arthur over here and the facilities are a disgrace

2 shillings and sixpence you must have been in the Directors box, i am sure i paid one shilling and sixpence to stand on the small terrace in front of the Director boxes

If average ST price is 1600 and there are 8000 that would bring an extra say 5 mill per year.

Am still not sure on the overall maths of the project.

The new stand will be £100M minimum. If we find a shareholder to put up £50m and borrow £50m we will be paying it back with interest at say £5m pa. so it would just about wash its face.
So find a shareolder to stomp up £50m, fine. To try and forward fund it off advanced season ticket sales forget it. No bank would do that. Even a ground rent company wouldnít as there is no alternative use when we wipe out luckily. So it is pretty much reliant on shareholder funds.
What it would need is someone with deep pockets who likes SE25. Funny place to dump that sort of cash in a completely oversized stand in comparison to the rest of the stadium. It will dwarf the white horse and the arfur.
In hindsight the homesdale should have been single tier and lower.
Look at the new Tottenham stadium. The single tier wall of sound etc.
Amazing. Itís madness to drop at least £100m on one side of a dinosaur.
Letís see if anyone wants to stomp up £ 50m for that. Very much doubt it. No wonder the yanks have turned their backs.
Wake up SP.
Talk to developers. Donít get carried away by some crazy emotion.
Look at Spurs. It has to be something really special to work.
What we have designed is lopsided at best. Think very carefully. We really donít need a disaster.
It would be madness to build it.

So Palace haven't spent in 3 years supposedly due to funding for this 'new stand'. Are we actually any closer to building commencing... SP with a classic PR job, smoke and mirrors once again, pocketing 80k a week whilst we all argue as to whether or not this is viable. One thing that is not up for contention is that SP has done very, very well out of the club from an individual financial standpoint, and to say he has the club's best interest at heart would be fairly tongue in cheek. I'm not blaming the man at all, but at least sell up to people who have a greater LT ambition, rather than using it as a cash generator for personal projects in the south of France.
