You don't spend over £25 million on two players if you've conceded defeat. If we are also purchasing this Serbian guy then that would push spending up to around the £35 million mark. That would make us one of the biggest spenders this window. Talk of us throwing in the towel is ridiculous.

As to Zaha, he is clearly one of Parish's favourites and I imagine it will take something improbable to see him leave before the summer. Especially as it would be too late to find anyone close to filling his boots.

On a personal note, I don't want Wilf to ever leave. Having lost Bolasie last summer I don't think my heart could take it!

Personally think we should have off loaded Townsend and bought in another quick winger say Brady or maybe Snodgrass as a potential replacement before Wilf goes in the summer. Bed him in to the squad prior to the summer. But what do I know...

Buying players we need rather ones we know we will.

Anyway there it is...

Also if Wilf is going in the summer and we haven't got a replacement then we'd be wise to keep Townsend as he can play on the right and be a poor mans Zaha.

Unless we actually had a replacement lined up.

I.e. Don't sell Townsend now and then Wilf in the summer and hope the summer replacement works out!
