He's gone to Fiorentina, Am happier with Sakho although would have been equally happy with Carcres

"Clubs do not have to name a full squad of 25 if they do not have that many contracted players and in this case they can add free agents outside the transfer window. However if they have 25 eligible contracted players, they must be named. " extract from an article on 25 man squad system. We have way over 25 contracted senior professionals who are not loan elsewhere eg Appiah, and injured players like Souare and Wickham. this is reason Appiah was in last 25

A club can sign a player, outside of the transfer window, provided he was a free agent BEFORE the window closed AND we name less than 25 in our squad tomorrow (3 February). We cannot name our 25, then loan one of the named out to create a space for a free agent.

This, as I'm sure you're aware, is absolute horse manure as we had to submit our squad by 3 February, and there are 25 names on it.
