The exciting ground development is moving ahead and we are seeing great improvement and success in our academy. This man saved our club and has since give us our best run.

He manned up realised that he had made a horrible mistake and acted swiftly to correct. There was much derision from the pundits about knee jerk reactions. At the time I said if the relationship between Parish and FDB had broken down it was the right thing to do. I bet some of our relegation rivals are regretting their actions or inaction's. As for the stadium revamp I had hoped that Parish was quietly winning over the council (unlike Noades) and the speed with which is was approved showed he was. I just hope that Parish now gives Roy the authority to buy the players he needs. Mid table mediocrity would be nice for a couple of season. Well done Steve if there was a chairman of the season you get my vote.

I agree with the praise here regarding the stadium and sacking Frank and Parish could become a better chairman with the window closing the Thursday before the prem season starts. Just stepping back from transfers could do that but this new rule might improve his running of the club anyway. A lot rests on Roy staying. Roy stays, we’re in a great place. He goes, gulp.

Reviving the praise for Parish when Hodgson miraculously rescues us is similar to the way that Parish himself popped up proclaiming that we could aim for the Europa League under Pardew, then disappearing from the limelight when it all went wrong. Parish can be credited for getting Hodgson in quickly, but I was unimpressed with both transfer windows this season. I'm hoping that we can praise him at the end of next season after we finally have a good, stable, well-directed season of stability and building, rather than more crisis management.

Its easy for you to criticise a transfer window, but he isn't in control no matter what you think, there are agents, clubs, players and financial demands all in the mix.

The reports of clubs saying we made our approach too late for them to find replacements and players walking out of negotiations and gutted because the window has slammed shut are undeniable issues that have hampered our starts. No doubt Parish has the right intentions but you cannot be the ultimate winner on every deal. Hopefully this new rule will sort him out and we don’t start the season with one midfielder or something crazy again. I am hopeful it will but you never can be that sure with Parish on these sort of things. Or you can if you know what I mean.

You for some reason, just have it in for SP and won’t let it go.

Totally agree with all the comments above. Parish has taken the tough decisions when needed, and more times than not, has got them right. With PL status retained for another year, now is time to start planning for next season. Three things need to happen here: Roy: Has done a fantastic job, many here were not happy when he was appointed, but he is a quietly efficient manager I have always respected, going back to the days he was managing Switzerland and other 'journeyman' jobs. However he is not getting any younger. I hope he sees out his contract; even a year extension would be welcome. But it is time to turn to succession planning; bring in 1 or 2 young promising assistants, give them space to be nurtured in the back room, and breed them in CPFC for a couple of years before Roy puts his feet up. Last thing I want to see is a string of random second rate managers from the Spanish 2nd division. Transfer window: the last 3 or 4 have been a complete shambles. Or at least what we have seen (and the results) of them. Maybe there are the deals that got away which remain private, but I doubt there are really that many that were close. We need to have our list of targets drawn up now, and get them early. Early bird gets the worm and all that. A good world cup, and those obscure guys that we could have picked up for a decent fee could turn into a fortune. We need to solve the Benteke problem; stick with him, or let him go. Our club is not one that can afford to keep such a guy warming the bench on big money. Lets see if confidence comes back from the WC... otherwise I would suggest we cut our losses... Wilf: needs to stay. That is all. We do the above, and we start to turn into a reliable mid-table club. Can take nothing for granted, but every year more in the top flight brings a bigger expectation... Edited by lagoseagle (29 Apr 2018 9.09pm)

It cannot be denied there’s too much hard balling on every deal, particularly those where we don’t have enough in the squad in that position and the selling club knows it, or they don’t have enough time to replace. You may think otherwise. Parish is a very good chairman, I’ve never said he wasn’t. It’s the transfer shenanigans that put us in these precarious positions. So no humble pie pal. He runs the club really really well but leaves us threadbare in 1 or 2 positions every year and relies on a top class manager to work miracles and then p1ss off after having enough of it. Luckily we have Roy who wants to manage his boyhood club towards this fantastic new stand development.

Especially if that meant that Hodgson became unavailable and we had to go with somebody s***e.
