I agree with you that we need to buy a keeper in but at the moment we are stuck with butter fingers, a French stick that does not really want to play for us and an Argentine that DOES want to play for us and should be given his number 1 spot back just to see if we can have a change of luck. After all he does have the Number 1 on his shirt does he not? We pay Jules a lot of money to sit on the bench at the moment when in all honesty he could be earning his bread playing for us on a regular basis. He might be short and he might be the oldest keeper but boy can he shot stop and dive when he has to and not stand there a spare pr1ck at a wedding like butter fingers does week in week out. . WHAT have we got to lose by letting Jules play a few games. It might change our luck and then at the end of the season get looking for a great replacement keeper.
We need all the help we can get now to keep us in the league and Butter fingers is NOT the answer in all honesty when we have a capable keeper sat on the bench. Its common sense in my book and I do not want to get relegated as much as you do not.

Fair comment. I'm just going to stick by supporting the managers decisions tho. Personally i think you are probably right in as much as Hennessey is shot to bits confidence wise and Speronis desire to play but lets see what bfs does against stoke. I agree about steeeeeve tho. He can clear off back to the easy life in the south of france. (Dont blame him )

Not that old chestnut again. It's not the 1960s. Shirt numbers have little relation to team selection, otherwise why would we keep having numbers 27 and 42 in our side, and why was Mandanda first choice when he is number 30? I respect your hatred for Hennessey, but the only reason Speroni has the number 1 shirt is that he has been here the longest, nothing else, so let's not pretend otherwise.

Cannot you stop being such a wally and discuss things like a grown up instead of like a little schoolboy. At least sickboy comes up with some of his own ideas and accepts that I think other wise, unlike you that just harping on about how much you think of Hennessey you are like a broken record mate and need to wind you neck in a bit. You must stop being on the defensive so much and see things as they really are. I do not hate Hennessy as you put it I just do not think he cuts it anymore, that's if he did at the start, he is not good enough as a premiership player as so many people on here have been trying to get across. As sickboy says we will have to see how BFS picks the team at the weekend as he is the man in charge not us.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

You're the one saying Speroni must be our best keeper because he has the number 1 shirt. If you read my previous post I said we should get rid of all 3 keepers in the summer, so how is that saying how much I think of WH? My argument all along is not that WH is that good (which he isn't) but that he gets unfairly pilloried on here, which I still maintain stems from the fact that he is not Speroni, rightly a legend at the club but one whose time has gone.

Yeah sorry. I forgot everything in the press is true as reporters dont have their own agendas only the fight to publish the truth. What you and the other Speroni apologists cant accept is that managers just dont think he is Prem league standard when in fact he has only ever been average as a goalie. If he had been that good he wouldnt have been with us for so long and got international recognition. Make no mistake if a higher placed club had ever seriously come in for him he would have been off like a puma after a capybara.

Yeah Speroni isn't a beanpole and that put a lot of Prem managers off which was great news for us as he stayed with us and played no end of blinders. As I've tried to tell you before when Pullis came in he must have had the same doubts about his height and so he bought Hennessey for £3 million but he must have soon realised just how good Speroni was because he never dropped him.
By resorting to calling us Speroni apologists, slagging off the Press and denegrating Speroni himself you have lost the argument. I won't be bothering to comment further and I look forward to Hennessey being sub this Saturday.

Amidst all the arguing about who is better than who we have;

Julian Speroni four times player of the year and put in some big performances whilst we avoided the drop to league one, won promotion from championship, and finished top half after initially struggling first half during our first two seasons in the prem.

At the age of thirty six after a decent season 2014-15 he was demoted to third choice and;

Alex MacCarthy was made first choice and Wayne Hennessey second choice. MacCarthy looked error prone in a side that performed well and was replaced by Wayne Hennessey who, after initially impressing, allowed his form to fall off a cliff. The team's league form has plummeted in parallel with Hennessey's.

A brief ray of sunshine being Palace's appearance in the FA Cup final when ten man Man utd profited from a poor Hennessey clearance and some subsequent weak defending to win the cup.

Hennessey started the following season in goal when again Palace didn't get a point from their first two games.

At this point Palace buy Steve Mandanda who comes with a decent pedigree but has only competed in the fifth best league in Europe. He initially impresses as Palace's form takes a slight upturn but looks a bit fat, takes a dip in form and goes missing with dodgy knee amidst speculation he want's to p1ss off back to France.

Hennessey returns to the side, continues to play poorly and the side plummet down the table, manager is sacked and replaced by famous firefighter. Hennessey continues to show no fortitude and costs the team points as we become laughing stock and favourites for relegation.

Conclusion;

Goalkeeper is the most important position in the team and what a fvcking mess. Lets hope that Julian Speroni is still good enough to help get us out of the sh1t.

End of discussion.

Dont believe the hype. You have your opinion i have mine. So far mine has correlated with at least 2 premier league managers,which forgive me, more than yours. Hennesey may well be sub this weekend but that wont hide the fact that if speroni was all you say he would have been a prem keeper for many years.

Rachid Rachid Rachid has hit the nail on its head. The amount of points we've lost because JS is t playing- he is by far the best shot stopper but his distribution is a bit crap. Think that is why AP didn't play him

The main point is that JS was an integral part of the successful 2013-14, 2014-15 seasons but Pardew and Woodman then made him third choice until the admission that MacCarthy was a failure.

Hennessey and (so far) Mandanda have also failed and we've spunked £10m on Tomkins when a similar fee would conceivably have got us the likes of Begovic.

What an absolute fvcking travesty.
