saturday for me was so so bad because it was so important, it felt like we'd turned a corner, lots of the squad seemed to be coming back from injury, and because the players cost so much. it felt like the narrative was going to be a good one. we were going to come away from it with momentum and belief. but in practice, it could easily turn out to be a definingly bad result in the history of the club. `the day we got spanked by the bottom club in the league and then fell apart for the rest of the season'. Here's hoping that's not how it plays out. I still believe we will get out of it, fwiw. A result at lucky-for-us Stoke would be most welcome! Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (06 Feb 2017 2.42pm)

performances, just hit me hardest ] were both cup matches. 1965 Qtr Final lost to Leeds at home 0-3 1976 Semi Final Lost Southampton Years later, it still hurts.

1996 play-final. Wembley. We lost 2 - 1 to Leicester City. Claridge (bast*ard) scored the winner for them. A bunch gobby, smirking Leicester fans asking me why I looked so 'mardy' after the game. I asked them if they spoke English and then had to make a very quick exit. Felt like a very bad defeat at the time.
