We won't be in a Villa situation with loads of cr&p nobody wants but we will have to rebuild the side and endure the 1st part of the season of them gelling. The worst might happen 3years from relegation if nobody buys the likes of Benteke and takes his £130k wage off us.

We will lose any quality:

Dann
Cabaye
MacArthur
Zaha
Townsend
PVA or Schlupp

all gone.

Then the unwanted and out of contract all going.

Hennessey
Ledley
Delaney
Puncheon (is he out of contract this June?)
Campbell
Mutch

Yep the Championship will be welcome. Instead of losing a 5 a side team we'll be losing 11 and completely changing the whole team strategy. Yeah we'll be enjoying it every second. Have a think again.

Do you really think we will lose that many players I would of thought 4 max

Lets be fare here, Parish and the owners have invested into the playing squad. They are all assetts. Some will of course go down but others will go up. Parachute payments will kick in so they will have the oney for the wages. Hardest part will be the majority of the team will probably be sold and we would need to rebuild. Pretty much like Villa and other relegated teams have to.

We would certainly lose the following:

Benteke; Townsend; Zaha; Cabaye; Van Anholt; Schlupp; Milivojevic; Mandanda; Flamini and of course Sakho and Remy.

We might possibly also lose McArthur, Souare, Sako, Wickham and Lee.

Maybe I'm being a little pessimistic but seems a possibility to me - that's 14 of our current 25 plus two currently injured.

Would Palace offer a new contract if we were in the Championship?

If we get relegated, our squad will get picked apart, our club will be in immense financial jeopardy, and the club's infrastructure will go backwards.

I don't know why so many people love proclaiming that relegation will somehow cleanse this club for the better. It requires a complete mental block of how things actually were in the Championship.

This is why i wished we kept the mentality 'we are lucky to be in this league, let's do our best to stay in here and develop the club'.

What does that mean? Gradually updating the playing squad, looking to getting to 40pts as quickly as possible, staying grounded and not let hype go to our head.
Then with extra money, focus on youth set up and the club infrastructure.

Where did we go wrong (hindsight is a wonderful thing) - talk of Europe, signing Bentekke for 30 million, saying that Cabaye was the bench mark people need to play at and be at to get his wages. Talk of transitions, wanting to pay free flowing attractive football.

If we had the mentality of securing status as quickly as possible and enjoying a good cup run.

You got to get a stable, defensive unit - draw every game you stay up, it's that simple, you win, you can afford a loss, i am being basic but you understand the 'pulis' philosophy.

Ward, Damo and Papa all should have had back ups this summer, it wouldn't broken the bank.

Pardew and Parish were each others own worst enemies.

I think Puncheon signed a 3 year contract recently.

Zaha has some green grass in front of him here. Finds Ambrose
not a bad effort ooooooooooh! what a goal by Darren Ambrose absolutely stunning strike!!! And, Crystal Palace lead @ Old Trafford.

That's what I hoped for. Stability. 'Learn to walk before you run.' I liked the way we played under Pardew, but he tried to get us running with joggers. We weren't ready. A nice idea, but far too early. If we stay in this league, I will despair, as I did last time, of talk about playing in Europe. That makes us as bad as all the other teams fans slagged off on here. Deluded, with a sense of entitlement.

Too much sense. Go and watch 35 mins of every Pardew 2nd half to skew your view again.

we should have looked at mid table security with the prospect of europe via a cup - even if we did get europe, look at clubs in it for the first time - wigan, lei etc.

respect is earned, not something a blank cheque gets you.

imagine having 31 points right now and still in the cup.. we had that a year ago, look how it can all change,
