Just a few things that spring to mind....

having a scarf tied to each wrist

My dad could bung me £2 on Saturday morning and it would pay for bus, programme, chips and a drink, ground entry and bus home

No sodding about with tickets and proper packed grounds with people locked out there was so many squeezed in(although not usually at palace) lol

Surges on the terracing

Sew on patches

Muddy pitches

climbing up floodlights to get a better view

I'd love someone to confirm this, because the memory is very hazy. But I seem to remember the Holmesdale end singing (if you could call it singing) what I now know is the Funeral March (composed by Chopin) when an opposition player was carried off on a stretcher. Please someone tell me I'm right.

Leaving 'Selhurst Park' after the game and getting in close proximity to someone with a transistor radio so that one could find out the final scores.

Yes I recall the procedure at a certain newsagents. There used to be a queue of people arrive before the papers are delivered and used to pay for them whilst awaiting their arrival. As they were plonked on the counter they just used to take a copy and walk out.Maybe this happened across newsagents ?

The days of hooligans, fights on the terraces and 'Crews' when 'Home' supporters used to infiltrate 'Away' supporters areas and vice versa.

Once heard about a Palace supporter who tried to sneak his way into the 'Home' end at Bury only to be thwarted as he was wearing a jacket with emblazoned on the back the words 'London Borough of Lambeth' !

Hi-legs and crombies with handkerchiefs sticking out of pockets in evidence on the 'Holmesdale'.
