Actually Nobby, ignore me. I'm just being s***ty.

I think that ' the Yanks ' are probably unimpressed with Parish as much as the players right now

Not a problem.

I had read it & it struck me that you don't usually see the Americans mentioned in such articles. Since their investment they appear to have been happy to take a back seat & let SP run the club but, understandably, they seem to be getting more & more involved.

Still on the fence as to whether it's a good or bad thing. I understand a lot of clubs do the same to help integrate the new faces & build team spirit much like pre-season tours but, whilst we clearly need to do something, perhaps a more 'back to basics' approach is needed.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

I just don't see what good a team bonding session in the sun would do.
Based on the Bournemouth result it looked like Sam was getting us back into the style of counter attacking which has served us so well in the Prem so that was a massive plus. Unfortunately the counter attacking system has always meant that we struggle at home against teams who park the bus and try to nick a goal.
This home form has gone on for so long now that as soon as the opposition score first our heads go down and we lose. Saturday was the worst yet because the players were just trying to play out till half time and Defoe struck twice.
With this in mind we can play counter attacking away to Stoke and hopefully get a result but then comes Boro at home !!
We all know that Boro will park the bus so Sam has to use the free 2 weeks to get the players into a system whereby we can break them down without leaving our defence open to the counter. It won't be easy but that's what is required and they won't do it in Dubai that's for sure !!

Parish has mentioned on many occasions that 90% of what is written in the media about the club is garbage and I can't see this Sky report being any different

I think it's a pr exercise. Doesn't look good them going with the amount of bad feeling and poor results at the moment. The press will be all over it, only takes one stupid instagram photo or Facebook post and it will intensify the bad feeling toward the players. I think that's the real reason it's been stopped... but then I am cynical

Dubai seems like too much of a treat after some bad performances. But some team bonding would still be good. Maybe Go Ape or Ten Pin Bowling?

Actually I don't think you are; you've probably stated the exact reasons why it's been cancelled, not because it isn't a good idea, but because of how it could be perceived.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

There plenty of stuff for them to do in England instead of Dubai. for a start learn to defend instead of getting pissed in Dubai every night .would get more done here anyway go back to basics and they can team bonding staying here in England they train with each other for 9months of the year here in england anyway going to Dubai ain't going to solve anything anyway think it great they ain't going they don't deserve it anyway they will have to wait till the summer and pay for it themselves as they earn enough anyway

Probably come back with 6 more with injuries - rope burns and toes broken by falling bowling balls

So generally a safer alternative to the 5 minute warm up before the game then?
