You haven't upset me. I have skin as thick as a rhino.
But I think we should keep our banter to vitriolic, savage personal abuse and leave murder out of it.
It's only right.

What for?
It needs a practical solution, not party political banner waving. The NHS receives more and more funding year on year. It is not being under funded. It simply can't keep pace with the increasing demands put on it. There could be a tax rise to help fund it but there is a formula for how much tax people can pay before it crashes the economy thus potentially making the situation worse. It just isn't that simple.
Education has been a joke under every government but and reducing standards for those who were more able. Where I live we still have grammars and I'm very glad that my kids went one. I would agree that they are not so good if you are at the bottom of the pile, as they tend to focus on the high fliers, but over all standards are better and you can always drop down to a state school in sixth form if you are better suited to being at the top of the pile.

What do you mean by kids not getting Tutoring?

FYI. It was the milk snatcher wot stopped new Grammar schools from opening.

Grammar schools, although technically state schools are better funded than comps and have a low intake of kids from lower socio economic backgrounds. My eldest goes there, perfect for a boy with aspergers. My other son chose the local comp, loves it and is doing well.

State schools have seen a big cut in funding, lack of investment in keeping buildings suitable, low teacher retention and a heavier reliance on unqualified teachers as cover.

Kids that don't go to school for whatever reason are entitled to be tutored at home or library/wherever. Mostly it's medical reasons keeping kids from school, but there are other circumstances.

The organisation I work for - now part of an academy chain barely has any budget so can't cover needs.
Many of the home tutors (including myself) are on zero hours contracts so only get paid for the hours they do, which varies quite a lot from week to week, especially if tutoring kids with something medically serious so they cannot reasonably budget without a regular consistent wage. That said, the work, when there, does pay quite well.

These are the sort of ordinary people that the left are trying to help. You sound like you've done alright for yourself, so good luck to you. You've either been very savvy or worked very hard or both, which is a credit to you. Just try and see how it is for those that want a decent consistent wage for what they do? Who has said they will fight for those on Zero hours? Corbyn.

Peace out. Fifa time...

Right.

Well as I recall grammars were fazed out by Labour long before Thatcher from the mid 60's. Irrespective of that, no government in modern times has paid sufficient attention to improving education standards for the majority. Could it be that to do so would be self defeating for a government as it would lead to a greater aspirations and a new level of expectation from employers? In other words, people would be far more entertaining at dinner parties and be much better on The Chase but social mobility would not change much as the goal posts would just move.
Of course education for the sake of it is not such a bad thing but what is really needed is real life skills to earn money with. Even with that, we still need plumbers, dustman and road sweepers and having a degree in engineering isn't going to help them much if there aren't any jobs available for those skills.
The future dream was for all the s*** jobs to be done by robots while most sat around improving themselves and having fun. But what sort of economy would sustain that? Only one with almost free renewable energy maybe and that could happen in the future. The rich will still be richer but we will all have a good life.

We Won't live long enough to see it sadly.

So it's all our fault for not having more diverse TV.
A look at the future. Sounds like give us what we want or else to me. The politics of immigration.

After the Romans left Britain the 'Romanised' Britons were left to rule. Many different tribes moved to Britain during that period and before long they were all fighting the ruling class and fighting each other. History will repeat itself if we don't wake up.

When I first read your link I thought it was spoof. So laughable that someone could say that because there is not enough 'diversity' in say Coronation Street, that drives people to join organisations that behead people, burn people alive and throw homosexuals off roofs. But no, Riz Ahem is putting this forward as a serious argument - beggars believe really, although we should have realised by now that there are no depths of stupidity that such people are prepared to plumb.

We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell]

It's not even true, there are loads of Asians on TV.
Funny that you don't hear Indians,Chinese,Polish,Jews,Germans,Irish or Africans complaining about lack of representation.

I'm hearing reports that one of the refugees let in who claimed to be a child, then claimed to be a interpreter... has been arrested for planning a terrorist act in Poole. I'm all for helping the needy, but I'm against letting in s***bags that want to drive lorries in to people/strap bombs to themselves or even ones that are sympathetic to terrorists.

The Poole operation was to do with the escaped 'British' prisoner from Liverpool. Best to check facts first before trying to rabble-rouse.

You may be right, lesson learned. Don't listen to social media. I apologise if you feel I was rabble rousing. I hope you weren't overly offended. It seems the refugee wasn't a terrorist, but a good old scumbag.

You've been had.

This is the fella they are looking for and whomever helped him escape. That's why the police were in Poole.
