It is easy to see why 'virtue signalling' is so flawed.

It’s too often used to cast aspersions on opponents as an alternative to rebutting their arguments.

Or you are exposing their 'argument' as not being a deeply held conviction but simply a way to make them appear morally superior.

That exposes whom is flawed.

Whether someone feels morally superior making an argument is irrelevant it is only the argument itself that matters and which you try to avoid.

If a person is arguing a point to make themselves feel morally superior but do not believe in the substantive of that point, then their argument is worthless.

Just as you are doing now. You want to have a pop at me. Go on, do it, get it out of your system.

Well done, Liverpool!

Too much, I guess, for other clubs to show solidarity with Liverpool given the heinous behaviour demonstrated by Murdoch's rag ...

f*** em who cares.

I do believe in the argument I am making and I don't feel morally superior at all.

Your problem is that you are judging here but you should be arguing not judging someone you don't know.

It's a rare demonstration of solidarity by working people against a paper that has nothing but contempt for the working people it claims to support - unless they are idiots that can be sheopled to toe the Tory line.

The Sun pontificates about British policy and stirs up hatred about immigrants and is owned by a billionaire foreigner who doesn't even live here.

If you don't live in Britain and pay taxes here you should not be allowed to influence our government let alone have it in your pocket as is the case with Murdoch and the Tory Party.

Or it is a bit of virtue signaling by a big brand football club to keep their customers on side.

Spot on, Steeleye! Like yourself, I don't feel morally superior whatsoever in raising the subject, nor do I even wish to, and yet there are clearly others who will find and label without knowing the first thing about the person whom they are addressing. It all rather points to the shallowness of the accuser.

What's really funny is that you have proved my point with the above post. You have attempted to make yourself out to be a moral beacon and me inferior, by labelling me 'shallow'. You are demeaning others, thus attempting to elevate yourself.

You don't help yourself.

So what's your opinion on Liverpool banning Sun journalists?

It's up to Liverpool to do as they wish.
