This sort of speculation ought to be left until the end of the season. I'm not feeling hopeful but it took Allardyce a while to turn things around at Sunderland, and we're still well in touch with 17th place.

He was the right man at the time of his appointment too.
Rowett was never the answer. The right answer would've been Dyche before Pardew was allowed drip feed his poison.

Allardyce is the man wev'e got, so end of story really. Personally, I think he has done a great job in the players he has brought in. He has strengthened the areas we were weakest in, which is really important. The bottom line of course is results and points, and as we all know these are deeply underwhelming. Is there still enough time to turn things around? Just about, and I think he will

What I would say is that Allardyce mentions about the goals we have conceded and said quite rightly this needed to be addressed.

That said, he went and bought a left-back in Van Aanholt who is better coming forward than defending and his defensive frailities are well known. Fans have mentioned Schlupp in terms of playing left-back but he is more a forward thinking player and I wouldn't say defending is his strong suite. So thus far we have basically had the defence that has been very porous plus PVA who is not the best defender !

The trouble is a lot of fans are losing their bottle regarding Allardyce.
He's taken over a sinking ship that he hasn't magically turned around yet.
All of a sudden this manager or that manager would've been better.
I didn't realise the season finished in February.

Probably the same people who wanted to give Pardew more time and give him Wonga for the transfer window.
Also other potential candidates may have been sounded-out, and decided to give Palace a swerve. Same goes for potential players in the transfer window.

We'll never know.
All we can do is back SA and the players, because it's far too late to do anything else.

might be worth speaking to Rowett if BFS doesn't have the stomach for fighting in the Championship next season

It's been mentioned on another thread but I honestly hand on heart don't think it matters who we got in to replace Pardew.

It runs far deeper for me. Something is seriously wrong at our club and with this squad.

We've been consistently losing for nearly 14 months. That becomes embedded in the mentality of a squad and cannot change, no matter who you are, overnight.

As much as those who are still crying over Pardew will hate this, he must take a lot of blame for that as 12 of those 14 months were under him.

We are in serious trouble people. I pray that I'm wrong but we I think we are.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

A dose of realism from KBLF. Real football clubs are not run like FM2016/17

He divides opinion, but quite plainly, of all the managers available Sam was our best option.

Rowett would've been way out of his depth.

Big Sam was by far the best option out there.

Even if we go down he will stay to try to get us back up.

He never realised just what a mess Pardew had left.

He's made good acquisitions.

Unlike at Sunderland he doesn't have a Defoe to score the goals needed.

If he can't motivate Benteke and get him scoring then he has to drop him.

The fans have to get behind Sam and the team because negativity and booing will just make survival even harder

pardew should have gone after burnley - that would have given the new guy time, otherwise, well, as we can see, it's too late

Benteke was scoring goals before Sam arrived so I don't think it is motivation more the style of play doesn't suit him. It is difficult for any manager to drop the most expensive player.

I don't care how much he cost - if someone's not contrbuting then he should be dropped. In our position we can't carry luxury players. If I was say McArthur and running my socks off I would be really p1ssed off with Benteke's lack of effort.

Price means nothing -just ask Simon Jordan about Akinbaye !!!
