In terms of timing, it's hard to see anything other than that Stoke away game. We were 5th and flying and then fell apart. Bolasie's absence turned out to be pretty huge. Probably gave us a false sense of security too, reaching 5th, and contributed to a lack of strengthening in the window that followed.

Since then there have been lots of turns for the worse. Flogging Yala hasn't gone well...or replacing with Townsend (so far). No holding midfielder. No cover for Pape. Dann has looked to be playing with a knock most of this season. McArthur's injury last season. Cabaye's nookie away from his missus probably affected his form and behaviour.

Whatever you think of AP or SA we could have been luckier.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Pardew is the main culprit as many on here have stated but he needed to be employed to cause the problem.
I reckon that keeping him afet Wembley is the only mistake SP has made since CPFC2010 rescued us and so I can hardly blame him for showing loyalty to a Manager.
How anyone can defend Pardew and his record in 2016 is still beyond me but hey - each to their own!
Our performances towards the end of AP's reign were no better or worse than they are under BFS really.
It is all bad and we can only hope that the turning point is a week tomorrow at around 5pm when Palace beat the Boro!

Here's how I can defend Pardew. Point 1: he took us to an FA Cup final(you know that thing that hasn't happened since 1990 and only once in our history ever. Point2: We never had a single bad season overall under Pardew(Season 1: top 10 finish season 2: stayed up, never in the relegation zone, FA Cup final. Season 3: never in the relegation zone but sacked. Point 3: He has built the best CPFC squad EVER according to not just me but Steve Parish. Ow lets look at your ridiculous suggestion that performances are no worse under Big Sam. ARE YOU f***ING KIDDING ME?! We have been booed off twice, at halftime, a fan tried to attack Damien Delaney and we lost 4-0 at home to the bottom club. NONE of these things ever happened under Pardews tenure. Now lets look at fat pricks first 8 league games in charge. Played 8, lost 6, won 1, Drew 1. Scored 4 conceded 9. Against Everton, Watford, Bournemouth, Swansea, Stoke, Sunderland, Arsenal and West Ham. Compare that to Pardews last 8 league games in charge. Played 8 lost 6 won 1 drew 1. Scored 16 conceded 20. Against Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United, Man City, Southampton, Burnley, Hull and Swansea. In 4 of those Pardew games we lost tight games to a late winner. In 3 of Allardyces games we lost by 3 goals or more.

In the 9 prem games running up to Pardew's boot W 1 D1 L 7

Considerable difference is in Pardews 9 games we scored 17 (Conceding 23), in Sam's we've scored 4 (Conceding 17).

To conclude, I would love to tonk Boro.

This is INCORRECT. The bit you highlighted talks about PERFORMANCES. You have listed RESULTS. The performances under Allardyce have been so dreadful that he leads Pardew 2-0 in times booed off the pitch at halftime, has already bettered Pardews record defeat by losing 4-0 to Sunderland and also leads Pardew 1-0 in number of times players attacked at halftime. We have also scored a lot less goals, have less possession and have already spent more time in the relegation zone than we did in all Pardews time here. He has also got us knocked out of the FA Cup. (You know that tournament Pardew took us to the final of?). Finally Allardyce has been in charge of 8 Premier League games not 7. Dont just take my word for it though see below.

Yes, that was hugely significant as well. Had that gone in, we might well have won that game and would likely be in a much better position than we are now.

But things were going well prior to the West Ham game. Alan Pardew had just won Manager of the Month with some good results and we were favourites to beat a West Ham side that had been playing poorly at the time.

Then the wind seemed to go out of our sails with Benteke's penalty miss. We failed to score, lost the game and then went on a lengthy poor run that culminated in Pardew losing his job. I don't think we've ever really recovered since that game and feel the penalty was the turning point both in that match and in the whole season up to now.

Let's hope there's still time for another more positive turning point before it's too late!

Benteke did not miss a penalty against West Ham.

He didn't miss one in last month's fixture away at West Ham, but he did in the home match against them back in October. Maybe I could have made that clearer to begin with, but that's the one I was referring to.

Very true, that's had a massive impact as well.

You can't have been following Palace for long if you think that signing "mercenaries" like Adebayor is something new as we've been at it for decades

We had NEVER gone for a player like Adebayor before. He was a total gamble on the clubs part - will he perform like he was once known for/we're in a different league getting players like him to sign. What also sets this signing apart is the ridiculous wage he picked up. We had never done anything like that before.

For me, the shambolic pre season tour to the U.S and late arrival of key players from the Euros meant we started the season badly unprepared or ready. That showed in the opening games against WBA, Spurs and Bournemouth. Also taking so long to get Benteke signed gave us no time to get the starting team attuned to the new system hence the long ball up to a lone striker has persisted. Our season hasn't even started yet so it would be nice to finish with a flourish, avoid the drop and regroup in the summer.

Agree with almost all of the points but the marked pay-disparity since Cabaye arrived, set a rot in our dressing room.
Dougie and Parish started a process of only signing players after significant investigation into their likely 'fit' into our dressing room. Slowly, that process got eroded and we now have half a team of mercinaries who (thankfully) will be first to jump from the ship they relegated.

Aside from this, continuing to play players whose form was undeserving of a place in the squad, let alone the starting eleven, beggared belief. Hennessey, Puncheon, Ledley, Kelly....all apparently superior talents to anyone else at the club.

Ps. Special mention to Jordan Mutch; spectacularly bad signing, huge fee, huge wages (more than Zaha), hugely damaging.
