We had NEVER gone for a player like Adebayor before. He was a total gamble on the clubs part - will he perform like he was once known for/we're in a different league getting players like him to sign. What also sets this signing apart is the ridiculous wage he picked up. We had never done anything like that before.

Edgar Davids

No way I'd happily take the cup final, f*** the 6 points. Give me Pardew the manager who never had us in the relegation zone or as favourites for relegation while you're at it.

Cup run was a massive distraction which it didn't have to be but Parish and Pardew started to believe their own hype. You might have been able to justify the cup final if we had won, we didn't and it all looks pretty pointless now.

Also you seem to be an angry man?

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

Sacking Pardew/Benteke penalty miss vs Watford

I was always confident of a mid table finish under Pardew as the performances were always good (there is a difference between performances and results before someone quotes results). We were always in the game, always looked like scoring and were often beaten by a bad decision or a late goal.

Under Allardyce we have been woeful, getting thumped regularly, not creating any chances. Some of his performances have been the worst we've seen in years. I've not seen a team go so far backwards after the impact of a new manager ever. I just can't see us turning the corner as we are so terrible now.

The first half vs Watford we played well and had Benteke scored to put us 2 up we probably would have won and that might have kick started us but we'll never know.

It all went wrong on a day one May at Wembley when we found ourselves promoted.

We were really still recovering from Administration with a squad that was a mixture of raw excitement and journeyman bit part players none of whom were of Premier League standard.

We clearly didn't have the management team at the top to cope and relied on managers to keep us up and at huge cost.

We have continually failed to get decent players over the line quickly and our owners loved the club so much they sold a huge chunk of it to Americans with an interest in money not football. I have no doubt the chairman loves the club but running it like a normal business just doesn't work. We now have been found out. We are all fur coat and no knickers a team on paper that looks great but can't play like a team. We have a manager appointed it seems in hours at the whim of the Americans whose performance is worse than the last one.

We may stay up again by dint of the fact that there are other clubs worse than us but we lost our heart and soul when we sold it lock stock and barrel to money not football.

No offence but what you say is absolute nonsense!

Sold our heart and soul? You obviously wasn't about after Noades took over then!
He tried to turn us into South London United, amalgamating with Wimbledon and Charlton.
That'd be selling your soul.
I think you're confusing that with a bad spell of form. A bad spell that will get sorted out under the current regime.

Jesus Christ!
I've lived through the times of Dario Gradi, Ernie Whalley, Tommy Langley, Brian Bason and their ilk. Even Trevor Aylott ffs!

This bad patch is nothing compared to those dark times.

I think there's a bit of manning up to be done amongst some of you.

Pardew never once took us into the relegation zone. Not to forget his record last 8 games was the better than Sam's after facing Chelsea, United etc. Can't believe we've f***ed our season up by hiring the bloke who's supposed to be the survival expert! Anyone see the stats on MNF? We are miles WORSE under Allardyce, I didnt think it was possible for us to get worse when Pardew left; but SA has done a good job of doing just that.

Edgar Davids was a PR stunt. Thomas Brolin was a huge gamble too. He was on trill and through desperation, handed a start. I can see similarities, but honestly, we are not the kind of club to sign someone lie Adebayor.

At Sunderland, Allardyce got 9 pts from his first 8 league games, the tally for us after the same amount of games is 4 pts.

But there is still time on our sides - there are 39 pts to play for and we are not cut adrift. If Allardyce keeps us up he will be lauded as a hero !
