It depends on the circumstances.

The one 'good' thing about our current run of form is that if it continues, we'll be down by April.

This has never been the Palace way of course and we always manage to drag it to the last day which is where it is most crushing. But there is a first time for everything.

Say we are 9 points from safety at the end of March rock bottom, I don't think I'll be that upset. Think I'll stop going to as many matches for the remainder of the season though.

That's not to say I'm a glory hunter or will not be renewing for the Championship. I'll happily go to all games next season but at the moment I go to Palace to set me up for a good weekend.

The point is having some fun at the football and then going out in the evening but recently I've been going, getting mad at the team and not feeling like a night out after. So if I knew we were down I'd probably spare myself the anger and grief.

Sums up my feelings to a tee actually.

Aye,and Like you I have many happy memories to look back on, like the first home game in Div 1 in that season Crystal Palace 2 Man U with besty charlton and law 2. I was 10 it still makes me grin from ear to ear.quote=eag-les;3128715]

Since first watching Palace in 1969 been there many times. As a kid it hurt for weeks if not til the start of the new season but all was forgotten after the first win in the new division. As you get older it kind of gets easier and you always know with Palace we'll be back there again and there'll be a few roller coaster moments to come whatever division we're in. Still in the Prem at the moment and we ain't down yet

Relegation is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman. You pay a load of money and anticipate great things, yet after a load of ups and downs suddenly it's all over and you're left in tears having been screwed.

Same here.

The one that really affected me though was when I was a little boy.
The 72 relegation was bad enough but the relegation under Allison from 2nd to 3rd division was tough to take.
I was in a local junior school at that time and in a class off roughly 30 (of a rough lot of 30) only 3 of us were Palace.
We naturally stuck together as mates.
The Allison relegation hurt more than most though.

I've encluded the 2nd to 3rd relegation under big mal as my first relegation even though I didn't start going till that first season in the 3rd, so although I was calling myself a fan when we went down I hadn't actually been to my first game so it didn't effect me much.

I can understand you being in a palace minority in the 3rd division days, my school was only about 5 miles from the ground, but everyone 'supported' Liverpool, Leeds, Arsenal, Chelsea etc except me, there was a few more palace fans at secondary school though once we got promoted back to the 2nd

But we're not out of our depth though which is why it's so annoying.

No team with Dann, Tomkins, McArthur, Cabaye, Townsend, Zaha and Benteke should be out of their depth in the Premiership

I'm afraid at the moment, as a team we ARE looking seriously out of our depth, despite the players we've got!!

i think you need to read that back to yourself, you sound like Our chairman at his deluded best, we're 19th and got stuffed 4-0 at home to the only team below us, these players need to seriously shape up otherwise we're heading for the trap door, will you still be saying we've got a better squad when/if we get relegated?

My junior school was less than 2 miles from Selhurst and yet in a class of around 30, only 3 of us were Palace.
I've still never understood that.
