To be fair Bellew couldn't finish off a sitting duck. If it was the other way round It would have ended a lot sooner. Not sure why the towel was thrown in at that point considering when the injury happened. The sky w***fest over Bellew was a tad embarrassing. The simple truth is he had 5 rounds with a punch bag. I hope there is a rematch as it would be good to see a conclusive result. I have a new found respect for both boxers, Bellew proved he could take a couple of good heavy weight shots and Haye has more heart than I thought. On a separate note I thought if you fall out of the ring you get an extended count. It looked like the ref was giving him a standing 8 count. Problem for Haye was he has been widely criticised in the past for blaming injuries, blamed his toe in the loss to Klitchko and pulled out of other fights. Bellew also predicted in the build up that Haye is carrying injuries and would quit the fight if it wasn't going his way. So really Haye had no choice but to carry on with the injury as he would lose any credibility he had left

Interestingly in the post-fight interview with both boxers, Haye never once complained that the injury contributed to his loss and was very gracious in defeat.

If it wasn't for the injury I believe Haye would have won the fight. Not even sure that was a proper knockdown when he went through the ropes.He got hit but because of his lack of balance due to his injury he just toppled through the ropes and didn't seem at all hurt when he got back into the ring. I look forward to a re-match and I suspect this time it will be a different result.

We will never know what would have happened but boxing is as much about tactics as the ability to take a punch or knock someone out. Haye got his tactics wrong, he kept trying to land the big punch and Bellew can say he got his right.

Against a guy that could barely stand, it took him 5 rounds of hitting a punching bag that could barely hit back. He won the rounds, but any half decent heavyweight would have stopped Haye much sooner. If Haye had 2 legs bellew would have been battered.

I disagree,Hayes fights don't usually go beyond the 5th, and his fight plan was to have it won by that stage, injury happened in the 6th after Bellew took everything Haye had. The injury is a nice convenient excuse for Haye to get a rematch. He lost because he underestimated Bellew and his tactics backfired

Not sure that Bellew "Took everything Haye had", as he looked rusty after not having a meaningful fight for years and his timing was off. He was getting better and I thought it was only a matter of time before he nailed Bellew but then he sustained the injury.

So how does that add up to Bellew getting battered in those final 7 rounds if Haye hadn't got injured. Bellew's chance was to go long and take Haye down as he tired, which is exactly what happened.
