These aren't secrets, Mandanda is back in training. Remy and Flamini both picked up strains in training this week. Was covered in the pre-match presser.

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has said that he intends to give goalkeeper Steve Mandanda match practice before considering him for a return to the first team.

The French international has been out since November with a knee injury, but has recently returned to full training and took part in a training ground match during the recent two-week break from Premier League football.

And Allardyce says that the 31-year-old will need further match practice before he can be considered for selection, adding that he does not want to rush anyone back from injury.

"He is in full training, but we have to play Steve [Mandanda] and a number of others in two things – put them in U23 games to get match practice or play behind closed doors games, we have got to do both," he said.

"If we don't, for me that is where we have picked up too many injuries.

"When a player says he is fit again, he comes and trains and gets thrown straight back in after two or three days of training and ends up getting injured again.

Sensible attitude IMHO. I'm generally considered pro-Pardew but he did tend to return players into the first team a bit too quickly after injury. That may be the reason behind Dann's drop in form as he has had to deal with lingering hamstring problems. Football demands far too much stamina and overall fitness to put in a player who is less than their 100% best, which is why I didn't mind Klinsmann dropping Landon Donovan for the last World Cup. Given the US's schedule in group, which had us playing in the three hottest venues including Manaus, was not a good time to have a player coming off serious injuries in the squad. I'd rather see Mandanda come back after his knee is fully healed and tested rather than having him thrown in less than fully fit.
