The Ref knew Rondon dived, the reaction of the Palace players would have further reinforced that. He also knows that simulation is unsporting behaviour and, therefore, a yellow card offence under the laws of the game. So, if he knew it was a dive and did not award a card that was deliberate on his part and not an error.
Why, then, did he deliberately not award a card?

You suggesting that refs are influenced by players' reactions? Surely not. Not unless they're Rooney, anyway.

Not overly but that's additional evidence which, when placed alongside his not awarding the penalty claimed for suggests he knew full well it was a dive - cos there's no bloody way he can claim he thought he slipped, if you view the incident. That would totally kill any remaining credibility he has left.

Yes the Rondon dive was certainly in the Snodgrass league.
How on earth was he not booked ?
You could guarantee if it were Wilf he would get a yellow immediately.
But then Wilf wouldn't have done that because he doesn't cheat.

This is absolutely true.

Wilf is on fire at the mo so more likely to get into tangles with the defence. lets hope he gets more going his way regarding the refs the way that manure get the decisions.

Reviews must come soon but personally, I would prefer these to be the responsibility of the captain rather than the manager, as in cricket. He would benefit from the input of those closest to the incident and be in a position to make the best informed decision.
As for retrospective action against divers, this only solves half of the problem. Had Snodgrass received a retrospective ban and then been unavailable to play against three of our relegation rivals it only compounds the wrong done to us. I can't imagine retrospective points deductions to right the wrong would be popular but some form of restorative justice for the sinned against might be a nice idea.
