No it doesn't. What it says is that the person having the surgery has terrible mental problems and wants to shock. If someone wants to change sex, they supposedly want to fit with their 'true gender' and blend in with society. This person clearly doesn't want to blend in and wants people to look at them and make an impact.

Just because this doesn't fit with your world view doesn't make it an incorrect statement.

Doesn't really appear to be any evidence of that, and if there was, one would expect it would be body identity disorder or a related identity body issue. Many of these, tend to be resolved with transformative costuming or surgical intervention.

Unsurprisingly, you can't say treat someone who is suffering from unresolved transgenderism issues, just by medication or therapy, because the underlying issue causing the psychiatric responses hasn't been addressed.

For example, if the body identity disorder is causing or related to Depression, just treating the patient with anti-depressant treatments and therapies won't have a long lasting solution. It can have short term value but ultimately unless you deal with the underlying problem, relapse is very likely.

Thing is, people don't just do things because they get a rise out of you, they tend to do them instead for reasons that are personal.

There is no evidence backing up what you are saying.

As we have established, many times, that there is nothing you don't know, except the reality of everyday life, let's leave this one here..

Well except from Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology obviously. I'll go back to enjoying my not real other day life, as clearly I don't have an every day life that occurs in reality.

You post mountains of supercilious ramblings as fact and back nothing up.

In your mind, of course, it is correct. In reality, it is a pedant attempting to scrape a bore-win in an argument.

Ok, in English

Do you not believe that the psychological and psychiatric issues seen in people with 'transgender identity' are not resolved through the use of gender reassignment surgery.

Or that people with significant body issues, have not been treated for the symptoms of those disorders, through the use of cosmetic surgery.

You were the one who brought up mental health in relation to this topic, with the statement that the individual in question was mentally ill.

Actually, I think it was me that first said that. I still think it's some kind of mental illness to want to transform yourself into something not human. Same as the kid at school that was convinced he was a Ford Escort.

I didn't say any of that.

I said this person was seeking attention and reaction by having this surgery done.

You said this was nonsense and went off on a tangent about whatever you had garnered from Wikipedia on 'clinical psychology'.

Hope that clears this up for you.

Well more from my degree in Applied Psychology (I'm currently also studying Psychology and Criminology).

Well yes, it could be, but its also a case that people with similar issues, find their symptoms disappear when under going varying forms of transformation - including in more extreme cases cosmetic surgery.

For example, when you have people with serious body issues, the act of actually undertaking some kind of physical surgical transformation often results in a loss of psychological problems. So the act of undertaking the surgical transformation can be curative.

Matt, you sometimes post some interesting views but why do you have to be so antagonistic? You appear to be determined to turn everything into a battle, and it seems you can only perceive other's motivations in the same light. It means people focus on how you come across rather than your views.

For what it's worth, I think people's ability to be who they want to is important, but Jamie it would be interesting to know if the curative aspects of surgery remain over time?

People's responses to who feel they are is presumably an evolving thing too? As I'm sure there are many things we'd change about ourselves if we could, where would you draw the line?

So being passive aggressive and a general troll is better?

At least I understand your motives now.

Who on earth do you think you are coming on here with your reasoned points and constructive contributions ;-P
