Watershed moment

I really think tomorrow will end up defining our season. Yes there will still be 10 more games left after the Watford game, but if we beat the Hornets i think we will end up safe reasonably comfortable, because i still think 35 or 36 points will be enough this year. I believe we are playing better now and with our extra confidence, the new players settling in, plus the improved fitness levels, i can see us picking up draws at both Southampton and Liverpool, and picking up the required remaining points needed from those pivotal 3 home games against Leicester, Burnley and Hull. I've written off the 3 away games at Chelsea, Man City, and Man United, but who knows we could get a surprise result at one of those.

Also i don't buy all this talk about us having the hardest run in. I think Middlesbrough have a harder last 6 games purely because all their hardest games are clustered together, one after the other, whereas we have one hard one followed by a more winnable one. Plus lets face it we all know that on paper we have a more talented team than our rivals, which at last we are starting to show!!! Lets all get behind the team tomorrow. As i said my opinion above is all based on us winning tomorrow. If we lose, then i may have to change my stance!!!!!!

I might have agreed a couple of weeks ago, but recent results, especially Hull's suggest that that may not be enough to stay above 17th.

Anything less than a win tomorrow would be not what the Doctor ordered to say the least.
A win tomorrow and we can start looking up - a draw or a loss and we are still deep in it.
The 4 homes games against Watford, Burnley, Leicester and Hull are so pivotal to our season.
I also agree with the other poster about Sunderland being the watershed moment.
Two wins after that is pretty good - it was a "the only way is up" defeat!

Agreed, we still may go down but that was the moment when everyone realised how sh** we had become and got down to work. To few games is our problem now.

You had us relegated a few weeks ago, how many watershed games are you to come up with.
We could lose, but still survive relegation.

As others have said, I think we've already turned the corner. Tomorrow is a matter of continuing the good work of the last 2 games.

I'm normally an optimistic person but a month back was convinced that we were sunk. Three wins on the bounce now plus three clean sheets and life is looking rosy again. I agree with the OP that a win yesterday was critical (not sure about watershed moment) but a massive marker set down and a bit of daylight now between us and the bottom three. I also think that 36 points ought to do it this year providing of course that Hull don't continue any kind of revival and Boro don't pick up a new mgr bounce. Unlikely that they will IMO.

Yesterday was a must win, same as Middlesbrough and it was also important we picked up something against West Brom. Our fixtures to the end of the season are horrible which make the home games vs Burnley and Hull must wins as well. We're going to need some big performances against good teams to stay up but after watching us recently I have genuine belief we can do it.
