He danced his way through the Russian defence. Do you think he might have been able to unlock Iceland's?

Him not playing for England has had consequences already. Too many players in the game in general are brainwashed into the pass-pass-pass possession style of modern team play, and still go sideways as a default regardless of who they're playing.

Wilf is a leader in Europe for successful take-ons. He would be a blessing in the England team, but it's sooooo England to shun any type of flair.

Totally agree with all the above.

Good article here by Barnay Ronay , [Link]

Covers the fact that Southgate has been a bitof a numpty as there are a lot of players nowadays with dual nationality and to say they must want to play for England 100% is silly

In particular I found this interesting

This comes at a time when mixed nationality England players are increasingly common. Zaha’s home patch, Croydon’s A23 corridor, is a place of huge ethnic diversity and also the most potent hotbed of domestic talent. Currently 14% of English footballers in the Premier League are from that square 10 miles.

Should the London-Croydon heartland declare national independence it could field a current XI of Jamal Blackman, Nathaniel Clyne, Joe Gomez, Chris Smalling, Ryan Bertrand, Jason Puncheon, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ben Watson, Jordon Ibe, Victor Moses and Zaha. The majority of these qualify for at least two nations.

Look one layer down and the England Under-21 team is stuffed with dual or triple footballing nationals. Against Lithuania last week the senior team had four on the pitch who might have opted to play for Jamaica.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

So, after Brexit, is it time for Croy-Do-One?

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

If we stay up, he should be given whatever he wants to stay for another season, when we can identify and possibly blood a replacement.

Has been absolutely superb for a while now and deserves to be a top earner at the club.

"Brighton are talking about how they're coming for us. And it's like, we've been waiting in the Premier League for you for ages." Wilfried Zaha, 2017.

This 100%. Saw Wilf's after match quote about how he was enjoying his footie again, how the gaffer and team believe in him and how even though the team has structure, he's able to express himself.

Give him wage parity with Benteke on a new contract, show him the love he clearly needs to help him play his best game and who knows.....maybe he does indeed become the Matt le Tissier of South London.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

He's not stupid. If he asked to move to Tottenham at the start of the season, there must have been a reason. Possibly financial, or because he didn't trust that Pardew would kick us on.

None of us can relate to the money involved, but it obviously matters. Wilf is undoubtedly our best player, he knows the club inside out, he clearly cares when he puts on the shirt, so lets make him a central figure, give him the responsibility. Spurs will only offer him so much, I don't think he can jump from 35k to 100k but parity with Townsend would be a good start.
