Sorry mate, I have to disagree, I think all Parish said was that Zaha should be scoring those goals in an England shirt (could be wrong but that's all I saw). Southgate has taken offence to that because its true - to make his defence what seems to be a personal attack on Wilf is wrong. He could have easily just said that Parish is entitled to his own opinion etc He did not have to question his commitment to England. It's fairly well known that Southgate and Wilf don't get on, I've no doubt that Wilf's exclusion is as much down to that as anything else. Do you think he has sat down every player that he has selected so far and grilled them on their commitment to the cause?

Perhaps it hasn't been necessary in other cases as others don't drop hints that they will switch their allegiance to another country if they aren't picked

Wilf said at a very very young age that he hadn't decided which country he wanted to represent.

If I emigrated and my kid was good enough to play international sport, I'd want them to represent England, not their new home, and would try to keep them connected to England.

I'd speculate that, coming from a fairly poor country, the Zaha family might feel honor bound for him to represent that country.

Talk of switching allegiance is the wrong place to start the conversation. He wasn't decided. Then he was.
