Don't you call me a barbarian - just because I like my brie with either bacon (in a lightly toasted Panini)or with redcurrant jelly...... then there is

Stilton with a glass or two of fine port

Wensleydale on a slab of fruitcake

Mature farmhouse cheddar in a proper ploughmans'

Red Leicester, lightly grilled on toast

Green Sage Derby with a sharp pickle on the side

etc. etc. etc..... Mmmmmmmm cheese for me every time!

I would class redcurrant, even in jelly, as a fruit. The only issue I would take with any of these is Wensleydale, can't be doing with it.

I am inherently distrustful of any one who buys mild cheddar. It should crumble in fear of the knife.

I used to be very anti-Red Leicester, until I grilled it on toast. Totally different experience.

Of course, on HoL the Pickled onion is the mascot, and as such approved in all situations.

Utterly commendable, however, with a gun to your head given 10 seconds to answer what would you say? fruit cheese fruit cheese fruit cheese fruit cheese fruit cheese ... tell me or die!

I know, that if I was bound by that choice, I would always have regretted not accepting the swifter mercy of death.

You'd become a martyr for cheese and pineapple on a stick? You are either foolish or admirable for sticking to your morals so resolutely.

'Dad was a postman, I grew up on a council estate.'

'Well after you've been to Newcastle you'll consider yourself middle class.'

Why do refugees from Beirut, come to Hastings? So they can understand what it is to miss home.

In paradise with 49 untouched cheese wheels, and 50 selections of fruit.

Believe me, eating Wenslydale with rich, moist fruitcake is another 'Red Leicester' moment

in view of the fact that there are more people with dairy allergies than fruit allergies, i'd vote to keep cheese.

Love the stuff but added bonus of helping mother nature get rid of the weaklings too.

People who live near The Oracle really shouldn't throw stones - I love Reading for its mesmerising variety of multi-storey carparks, then there's the history, the battle of Reading, Reading Castle, Reading Cathdral, why did they have the olympics in London when Reading was the obvious choice? Stop this. Fruit or cheese? I just godda know.

He was like this with Brexit. Even if he does choose fruit or cheese, you'll be left wondering why he's backing the one he didn't pick.
