He's been delaying making a decision for about 6 months, now into the last 12 months of his contract. Not signing it is in other words rejecting it.

Let me put it another way: is there a contract renewal actually on the table?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

The positive is that Luka is replacable, he isn't the greatest player despite being quite highly rated by most fans but I think that would be different if he wasn't the captain. CDMs that can win a ball and spray it out wide aren't that hard to come by.

More so with £20 mil let’s guestimate than with zero. Could be even less or barely anything in January with bigger prices to replace him and our ongoing financial issues.

Nothing has hinted from any sources that he is unhappy or wants to leave he is still the captain and is still doing press duties and interviews about his happiness with that role and at palace. He wants more money, sure I think he probably is within his rights to sign a bigger contract and I’m sure the club will sit down with him when the window shuts and they have more time and thrash out negotiations.

He needs to get his brother to start telling the media that he has always supported (insert club here) and would love a move there then perhaps Parish might take him off to Ibiza and give him a fat raise

We aren't like Arsenal, his contract runs out at the end of this season. It's a pretty easy question to answer.

He hasn’t got a brother, unfortunately. I hear Zahas brother is happy to put some rumours out for him for a fee!

Or it could be that he is just dealing with the matter in a professional manner ie by not feeding media outlets with rumour unlike some players. He may well want to leave but more to his credit if he has kept it within the Palace hierarchy.

So you're assuming. You don't actually know for certain.

From what I've heard, he would be happy to sign a new contract if he was offered terms that were acceptable. By acceptable I mean on an equal footing to Tomkins and Dann, but he's been offered a contract with wages that don't reflect his importance to the team and that he's captain.

I don't think he's asking for Sakho/Benteke/Wilf money so you couldn't really accuse it of being from greed.

If he has been offered a contract and its not acceptable to him and the club will not offer more then he had to be sold before this window shut. cant take the chance on him walking for nothing.

Blimey! If that is true - and I've no reason to doubt you John - then we are lost. I think he is replaceable but for pities' sake - he's easily worth what Tomkins or Dann is paid.

I'm not professing to be an ITK and have loads of inside knowledge but from what I was told there are the players like Wilf, Benteke and Sakho on the £100k plus, then you have Townsend, Meyer and a couple of others around the £80k, Dann and a few others around £60k and Luka is looking to be in the range between Dann and Townsend, which I don't think is unreasonable.

I think we'll agree terms and this story is the work of an agent trying to get the contract sorted rather than genuine interest.
