Are we relying on the same sources that swore blind that Saddam possessed WMDs? Enforced regime changes in ME countries ruled by distasteful despots hasn't panned out too well on the two occasions it's happened in the recent past. You'd have thought the West would have learned something from that but apparently not.

No, Turkish hospitals have confirmed the presence of Sarin, to some there is a doubt of who delivered the payload, not to me bombs dropped from planes rules out ISIS in my book, unless I've missed something and ISIS have their own air force now. I am well aware of the Geo political map and trust me Syria is a testing ground for the Russian war machine.

As you point out, the matter of who actually deployed the sarin is unclear - although ISIS don't have an air force, they have made extensive use of drones. As others have said, it makes absolutely no sense for Assad to have resorted to this (not saying he didn't, mind) and the possibility that this is the work of ISIS shouldn't be discounted.

Assad's regime are the only group I believe that can plausibly control the country. Maybe it could function as a strict Islamic state, what is certainly true is that the western backed horse of the moderate rebels don't have the impetus to ever crontrol the country after 7 years of fighting and losing huge numbers of men to more extreme factions or being killed. If we really wanted them in charge we missed the boat to back them properly a long time ago. I think it will be from within the govt eventually, but Assad himself will not he at the helm. He has essentially made his position untenable and by having a new bloke installed from the same stock it gives the west the credibility of saying look, we got rid of Assad, how great are we, without actually changing anything but saving face.

It's possible yes, but likely No, chemical weapons are not the modus operandi of your average ISIS goat worrier. think about it, how long have they been fighting in that neck of the woods ? why use it now ? and deliver it by drone ? come on I don't think you really believe that. Where international politics are involved there is always a he said, she said affair. However in this case there is overwhelming evidence that Assad used Sarin nerve Agent on his own people. Listen, once its ascertained that the attack was airbased that's the investigation done. Looking for absolute certainty in anything is just an excuse for doing nothing and accepting atrocities. You really have to go with the balance of probabilities. Otherwise you really just have to go with believing the Russians at the UN. And if you believe Russian statements at the UN I really don't think you can be taken seriously.
