At the turn of the year when we couldn't get a point from anywhere I was sure we were going down. Even had a bet with an Arsenal mate at work who said we would stay up, a bet I'm happy to lose.

Now we are in a very strong position I would be gutted if we were to be relegated now.

We simply must put out full-strength teams till the last game no matter whether we're safe or not, as we have the chance to finish quite a few places higher than our current 16th. Reason is that finishing higher means more prize money in the bank from the EPL. A few million could be handy in the summer.

It's very close to being impossible that we will go down. Swansea already have to win three of their last six games and we would have to lose all seven of ours for it to happen.

I actually had to double check I didn't write your post as I did the exact same thing! £20 I'll hand over with a smile on my face if we stay up.

At some point we will be relegated and a few months ago I suspected that this was going to be the season. We could still be relegated but that would probably mean losing most of the remaining games in which case I would be pretty pissed off rather than proud.

I'm certainly proud of the way the players have turned this around and will be very proud if they can get however many points are necessary to stay up (and hopefully a few more to spare).

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Agreed we're in a strong position, but to clarify, Swansea need 2 wins and a draw , not 3 wins, and that's if we lose all our remaining 7 games. Unlikely but having been there at Highbury in 93,anything can happen. BTW the Swansea forum is well worth a read, gallows humour at it's best.

I found this quite amusing.

Pointless thread. We're a mid table team wrongly near the relegation zone, 4 points from safety and in title winning or top 4 form over the last 6 games.

Pull yourselves together. Good grief.

Yep, definitely a glass half-empty thread.

Swansea would still have worse goal difference so 3 wins they need - our defensive record of -8 goals is better than teams half way up the table but theirs is -30 I believe Hull -32.

Still I am sure we remember Oldham aaaaaaarrgggghhh!!

How do they need 3 wins ? They are 6 points behind us so 2 wins and a draw...I was crap at maths at school, but not that bad !
