Maybe they could organise a family fun day?

What is tragic is how difficult it is for people to get any kind of therapy until they've been convicted of a sexual offence - and even then sex offender rehabilitation programs in prison are poorly funded at best (despite having a surprisingly high level of effectiveness).

I think use of the word tragic maybe over playing your hand a tad. Without having full knowledge of this area it's a bit difficult to do anything other than superficially comment. I agree with the sentiment though and clearly prevention before conviction would be massively beneficial to all our communities. Personally I just found the irony very amusing!

Its quite sad really, that people who seek help before ever offending, tend to find no support or assistance. Obviously, its quite tragic that these are people who can be helped, but society makes it very difficult first to seek help, and then to find help until you get convicted.

That seems pretty tragic, condemning people to a life as a child sex offender.

In their 'tormented' minds they could commit suicide before offending if they were so desperate to stop themselves but they must make a choice not to.

As in, they have the ability still to make choices.

The real tragedy is that some of them will have been abused themselves as children. Maybe there is a tie-in with the level of abuse and age, etc, and stalled development as to the likelihood of someone like that becoming an abuser. The help should be administered as a pre-emptive perhaps so that abused kids are steered away from the future you mention.

The subject heading of this thread has a catchy sound to it. Makes me think of "fly in the ointment." Maybe could be a title for a sitcom someday.

Hello mate, wrote the opening script to the sitcom "Paedophile in the Office"

Dave enters the office. It's Monday morning and Keith and Malcolm are already there talking about their weekend.

Dave: Hi boys, good weekend?
Malcolm: Yeah not bad mate.
Dave: Get up to anything good?
Malcolm: Yeah, went to the football, wasn't a bad game. How about you?
Dave: Yeah, I saw it on match of the day, great goal by Adebayor. I spent Saturday afternoon in Ikea looking for a "Plonker" rug that the Mrs had her eye on.
Keith: I spent the weekend looking at the next door neighbour's 10 year old daughter in a paddling pool.
[audience laughter]
Dave: Oh Keith, you say the funniest things.
[more audience laughter]
Keith subtly places an A4 jotter over his lap to hide his tumescence.
Malcolm: did you not catch Match of the Day?
Keith: No, I have a boxset of High School Musical and a box of tissues.
[audience laughter]
Dave: Haha Keith, you're such a paedo!

Has potential but you need a creche to have the required on-going 'will they, won't they' tension.

You know, this is why I posted the opening gambit. I knew the wrong'uns on here would have input. I'll make sure I give you credit when I take this to BBC Three.

I think to complete the love triangle, I'll have the MILFy mum of one of the kids have a thing for Keith that he is utterly unaware of because she's over 14.

Lazy nonce - A professional nonce will groom single parents (typically mothers) in order to gain access to their children.
