Some very interesting comments!

Well.... The nonse in question has left the company, due to 'personal reasons' is all we're being told.

However numerous articles regarding his seedy past are circulating like wild fire.

Surely you must inform an employer if you are convicted of any such crime and put on a register for it?
So if he never told them, is that a further offence?
Or
If he did.... Is it down to the employee to decide wether or not to inform there staff of the possible dangers.

He spent a few years here, in which time made every effort to build good relationships with numerous people who had young children. Even to the point where they would meet outside of work, children included. These people were very unfortunately un aware of his past.

My point/question is.... Should they have been?
Is there not a system in place to prevent this sort of occurrence?
Who... If anyone is at fault?
Him... For hiding the information?
Or the employer... For how they have handled the situation?
Or 'the system' for not guarding against this sort of thing? Should someone have been checking where he worked, what he was doing, were they aware made aware of his history, etc??

Lying is an offence. But not everyone on the sex offenders register is a hardened serial sex threat either. The employer isn't responsible for people outside of work - and realistically, ex-convicts do need to work somewhere, even sex offenders. Plenty of people who get added only spend 5 years on the register for 'relatively minor offences'. Most aren't serial rapists, hardened nonces or child rapers.

That's reserved for a different list (used to be called List 99).

Ice-creams aren't cheap these days.

There is a terrible irony in this, that most ex-cons, especially sex cases, struggle to find work, and so tend to go self employed.

One can operate an ice cream van, without having a CRB, if you own it. An astonishing number of ex-cons find work by being self employed and working various kinds of concession stands (and then often themselves employ ex-cons).

I know of a nonce who has had loads of jobs since being released. Not many companies check the CRB and if he is not in a job directly involving children then most dont check. the guy worked in McDonalds for a while they have famalies and Childrens parties but dont check. He has to change his job all the time as the mother of the child he touched phones up his new employers and lets them know his history. Shocking really. Should be something in place that as soon as he hands over his NI number that somewhere someone flaggs up that he is on the register and starting a new job.

That's exactly how Duncan Bannatyne (not a nonce) started out when released. Ice-cream van.

It's good to know that not all ice-cream van operators are kiddie fiddlers or drug dealers.

I guess they do have to work somewhere though, and its pretty hard to find work where there isn't some kind of potential conflict or hypothetical interaction with kids.

That said, I'd also want to see places like McDonalds not having children's parties.

Yeah I'd imagine that McDonalds etc. aren't particularly fussy about employees. I used to work for a guy who'd managed a Burger King, and his primary concern was really whether or not people could be trusted to turn up for their shift and weren't so dumb they'd accidently burn the place down.

I'm actually surprised my company doesn't have a paedo quota yet and isn't boasting daily about how we're number 1 employer of paedos in the UK.

Not saying people shouldn't be able to work because of X y and z.(there's loads of sh!te jobs around that they can be doing!)
More that the people around them should be entitled to be aware of there situation. Especially if they are 'registered' for it.
If you know you work with a paedophile your not really going to show them pictures of your kid. Likewise if you work with a thief your not going to leave your valuables around them, or if you work with mr freedman your not going to expect any kind of loyalty from him!

I work with Brighton fans so I've had to take down my Peter Andre calendar.
