When I was a kid my dad would have me in my seat by 2pm and there'd already be singing. It'd stop by about 3:05 so swings and roundabouts.

When I was a kid could not afford a seat !!
Stood at the front banging the advertising boards to 'Glad All Over'
But as you say everybody got in early.

When I first started going it was nearly all seater, apart from the Holmesdale. We'd sit in the AW where the away fans sit now. When I got a bit older he still insisted on sitting in the AW and I hated it because I was so far from the noisy support in the Holmesdale. Now the AW is all I can get tickets for because I'm a lousy fan!

Didn't realise this was an 'ORDER'

C'mon guys.....we all will be in SP in our own good time.

Some of us stand, some of us sit, some of us sing, some of us clap.....some of us actually WATCH the match, most of us get to the ground when WE want.

I'm a tad older then ,we only had the Main Stand!!.
You were able to walk around the others 3 sides.
Loads of fans used to go behind the goal that The Palace were attacking, then switch at half time.

I think when this started at the start of the run we're on and Sam having the option of playing more than 1 new player it has certainly had a positive impact.

What a change from the mood when Sam walked in. Well done all. Salvaged it in time.

Yeah, I think my first game was in 1991!

Still, I do miss walking through into the stand and hearing the fans underway already. I am a bit on the fence about pre-match music. It's usually blaring so loud the crowd that have assembled early don't try to shout over it. That said, I also remember going to games where about 3,000 fans were in the ground at 2:45 and you'd just hear the occasional "EEEAGLES" echo about the ground. My memory is a little hazy, but I suspect the pre-match music got brought in to cover that up. Perhaps one day soon the noise from the fans will do away with the need for it again.

This should not be seen in anyway a criticism of any supporters, I'm just being nostalgic rather than critical!

Yes, and as has been happening for decades and is still happening, we almost invariably kicked towards the Whitehorse in the first half. Nowadays I always watch to see who has won the toss, but it doesn't make any difference. Is there a division-wide conspiracy in which every club accepts that that's the way it's got to be?
