Sam had to redo the whole pre-season preparatory work from scratch in the middle of a season. His predecessor had shot to pieces the squad's fitness, mental strength and confidence. He'd also left important vacancies that required a transfer window to address. No Allardyce team has ever been relegated and that includes some that were in a right mess - look how well Sunderland are doing without him. If there's one manager in the league who isn't a flim-flam merchant and a flake, it's him. Now Pardew on the other hand...

Do you honestly think every EPL manager "knows" the players in each squad? If you do then you are clearly deluded. Armchair managers/critics don't have the foggiest in reality - only working with them day in, day out do actual managers get to see the player's strengths, weaknesses, fitness & application. Then it's a case of getting the best out of them both individually and collectively. You spout stuff on here about X player at £Y would be better than A, B or C with nowt but stats from other (irrelevant) leagues. If you were as astute as you claim then you'd be an EPL manager or lead scout but, and this is only a guess, you're not. It's about time you put up or stop it - unless, of course you are a troll or Pardew in disguise.

I wasn't too keen on his appointment as I didn't think he would really take us forward in the long term and thought that he would only be a minor improvement on Pards. So far he has proven me wrong and hopefully will continue to do so. He has really improved a lot, the fitness (even my old man who is a Liverpool saw this against Arsenal), confidence of players, organisation and certain players have improved massively under him. One thing I would say that he got wrong was the 3-5-2 formation. Doesn't work with our players and style for me. but in all honesty he was still trying to find something that worked for us The other Sam needs a mention too though- Sammy Lee
