I don't think Matteo ever claimed to be a coach or scout. He claimed to be someone who knows as much as a coach or scout.

Did anyone check what sport he was referring to ?

There are other sports than football? Don't be silly.

I wasn't too keen on his appointment as I didn't think he would really take us forward in the long term and thought that he would only be a minor improvement on Pards. So far he has proven me wrong and hopefully will continue to do so.

He has really improved a lot, the fitness (even my old man who is a Liverpool saw this against Arsenal), confidence of players, organisation and certain players have improved massively under him.

One thing I would say that he got wrong was the 3-5-2 formation. Doesn't work with our players and style for me. but in all honesty he was still trying to find something that worked for us

The other Sam needs a mention too though- Sammy Lee

He's owned The short term - but he may still not take us further Long term.
although I do think it has it in him.

He's made some good decisions so far. The thing I've liked is that he has tackled the actual issues of the squad. He's worked with the players we have rather than get them to do something they are not suited for, then filled in the gaps of the squad with good signings.

Assuming we stay up, this summer will be huge. Worst case we lose Zaha and Sakho. If this happens how will he deal with it?

Meaning after decades in the English football system and after being the NT's manager, he still didn't know the Palace players?

I'd have suspected that he at least knew not to use a right footed like Ward at left back and a 1,92 player like Kelly as right back.

Truth is- he's earning a big fat paycheck and came unprepared. Hopefully this is not just an understatement and he isn't just lucky with the latest wins. Cause if that's true and all his years have been of cheating and making people think he's good at something he's not, then we're in for a lot of trouble next year

What an absolute ignorant answer

Sam has done plenty wrong, the trick is to learn from his mistakes and make it right, which he seems to be doing.

So long as he keeps us up this season, I'm quite happy. The football isn't hoofball and quite nice to watch. At times. Hopefully we can push on into the mid table next season where survival and beating Brighton will be the minimum requirements.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Oh I know. I simply wanted to refute his claim that you had to be especially privileged to become one which did not fit with those I know.

Perhaps being picky but really didn't like the substitution of Zaha on Saturday.

He'd seriously stretched Leicester in the second half and far from protecting the point it surrendered the initiative with Leicester then looking more likely winners. They'd have been over the moon to see him go off.

MacArthur isn't a wide midfield player and Allardyce was trying to be too clever IMO.

Sorry, I was commenting on the wrong load of absolute bollocks then.

It was late in the game and we were settling for a much needed point after going two goals down. Zaha is great but he had earlier lost the ball giving Leicester the chance which they took on scoring their second goal. If through tiredness he gave the ball away near the end and we had lost the fans would have got on his back for not keeping a well earned point. In my opinion it was a good substitution unlike the half time one at Southampton - some you win, some you don't?

Agree. The manager knows better than anyone else which players are tired. And tiredness leads to mistakes.

I'm a Sam fan, but disappointed he didn't prepare our lads for the Fuchs long throw to Huth tactic?

I thought he would have watched videos of every team we play and would have alerted our boys to dangers like this?

That apart, he is doing a grand job as I knew he would eventually and some of the initial reaction to his appointment on here was disgraceful.

As someone else has already said, the amount of work he had to do to undo the damage Pardew had done was greater than he imagined when he was offered the job.

We are a much better club in all respects and are now a force to be reckoned with once again. The tune he is getting out of Townsend right now is unbelievable compared to how he played under Pardew.

Big Sam =

If you are reading this Hoof! He did the long throw the day before. They watched videos and all had a player to mark, but they just switched off. Can't do much about that! Think Big sam will do so much better after the next window. Half a season to assess the squad and get in who he needs! (New RB)
