Once again just stereotyping. I went to a dreadful comprehensive and my wife a slightly less dreadful comprehensive and there were no tutors to be seen. My daughter got in to her grammar on merit and my son got in on appeal after failing his 11+ by a couple of marks. They both did some practice papers and that is it. You may have noticed I was talking about Croydon and Sutton. Which Sutton school did they end up in?

This reminds me about arguing with Americans about gun control. It isn't about the statistics or really about what's best overall. It's about keeping a system they like and identify with. People will argue an orange is an apple till the cows come home if they want to. I suppose all you can do is put the evidence out there...for example Finland and ask why it's ok to condemn so many kids to a lower education simply because of where and who they were born to.

Realistically, it's pointless to be better educated in terms of job prospects because only so many jobs exist which require A levels, a degree etc. There has to be a large proportion of people to do blue collar,unskilled etc.

Just as long as your family are sorted out eh. As for the rest of your comments you appear to be advocating for ignorance. You appear completely unaware that most unskilled jobs are disappearing over the next few decades. A skilled workforce in the right industries is precisely what we need. If everyone is highly qualified then they will have hight expectations, which means they will not want to do the less popular and less well paid work. Only in a utopian society will everyone have a job they like and get well paid while robots do all the dirty work. Is that likely any time soon?
