I would love to keep Sakho but at the right price.

He is better than we need, so if we pay more than £20 Mill then it is potentially a waste. The extra fee and salary could pay for another very good player in another position.

We'll never improve with that sort of thinking - surely we should be looking to get the best players we can.

Every club has budgetary constraints, even the big clubs and if our budget for players is £30m do we really want to be spending it all on one player when there are other positions that also need strengthening

We not poor old palace anymore. We broke smashed our transfer record last season. I heard Steve p say that in the summer we didn't spend enough (indicating net spend). I rather bring in quality over quantity. Sakho ticks the box and should be our number target. Realistically we need 4 decent players to establish top 10.

Yep but only because Yannick left for £25 million or so. Think our net spend was close to £10 million or so. Can only see us spending this type of money on Sakho if Wilf leaves, as he is the only player which will command a high fee like Yannick last season. The likes of Kone would be my choice if we are talking that type of fee for Sakho either way.

Do you really think Klopp discusses his transfer policies with Daily Mail?

Bingo! This is purely Sakho's agent trying to gin up the price. The Mail will print anything. Nothing to see here.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

You need to understand, the loan move was great for Sakho, Liverpool and Palace.
His profile is now restored and will move to a big club on high wages.
Liverpool get a nice transfer fee.
Palace avoid relegation.
Everyone is happy, there is not a chance he will remain with us next season. How many loan players have we ever bought?

At least one... [Link]

They're asking for 30 so that we'll pay 20, which is still a rip-off for a 10 million center back who just had a good run of games

Of course we should but there comes a point of diminishing returns. We can get a damn good defender for less than £20 million and still be able to buy another very good player.

Ideally we keep Sakho but it should not be at any price

Van Dyke went to Southampton for £13 million. We paid about the same for Milijoyevic. There will be others out there.

You're right, but even that is a huge sum. When did center backs for mid-table teams start costing more than 10 million?
All right, van Dijk cost a little more, but still. He's like 1 in 50 who cost more than 10 million

That raises a few questions. Would Roma or us be prepared to pay that much? If both clubs are prepared to meet that, which club would Sakho choose? I admit to not having a good feeling about this.

Put it this way, If We think £30m is too steep Roma definitely do. They do not have the tv cash to spend that we do.
I would be more concerned if a Premiership club of higher standing showed an interest and yes I do think Sakho is good enough to play for Arsenal, Chelsea or either Manchester clubs (all of which could do with strengthening centre half position).
Its only United that Liverpool wont do business with.
