I personally think it's a p*ss take that Liverpool are asking that much for a player who isn't likely to play many more games for them, if any due to the fall out with Klopp

I dont think it is to much, not if he helps to keep us in the Prem for the next five years.

At £30 mill he is too much. Have you seen the number of players out of contract this summer?

He is not worth £30 Mill to us. Conversely he could easily be to Arsenal or Utd.

They're asking for 30 so that we'll pay 20, which is still a rip-off for a 10 million center back who just had a good run of games

The Benteke purchase tells us the complete opposite. Liverpool will hold out for what they value the player at.

Not the best analogy but it is a bit like buying a Rolls-Royce when we need a BMW. It would be nice to buy the Roller but then we could end up without the money for petrol.

We need a very good centre-back, we do not need a CB who could walk into pretty much any team in the PL. It would be great to keep him of course, but there comes a point where you just paying more without a comparable benefit. It becomes a nice to have. Given the potential comings and goings this summer can we afford to tie most of our money up in one purchase?

If however the dealer wants to shift the Roller at a sensible price for a quick sale, that's a different conversation.

In the Summer I think we will buy 3/4 new players.
If we can afford Sakho we should get him.

That's a pretty fair assessment.

I think if the clubs looks to Europe there will be a few CBs in the 10-20m range who could have an impact here alongside Dann/Tomkins, similar to Sakho.

If that allows us to also then add another right back and an attacking midfielder then that is a better use of £30m.

If we want to move on up (assuming that we stay up)and if Sam thinks he is the right man then we should buy him and pay the wages.
that kind of thing might also make Wilf stay and might attract better players to us.
I don't want us to go bust trying to play with the big boys but buty mediocrity and that is what you will get on the field of play.
A new keeper, Sakho, a new midfield playmaker (if Cabaye is leaving) and we will be a very tough team to play against.

Problem is the players below are out of contract at the end of the season, as things stand. There's needs to be a few bob spent

Hennessey
Speroni
Fryers
Kelly
Flamini
Delaney
Appiah
Ledley
Campbell

There's no point in giving zaha say 120 thousand pound a week and spend 25 m on championship players. If we serious about establishing a top 10 finish. Then Sakho is a must along with 2 other quality players. My transfer window dream would be sign : zaha (new deal), Sakho (27-30m), trippier (14m) and a number 10/Second striker like a kalou or braithwaite .
