So playing Palace could just give them their first 3 points away from home! Make another start like Leicester and we could easily lose to them again!

We get four points from the Liverpool and Spurs games then the Burnley game won't really matter that much.

I think we'll beat Burnley anyway.

I am focussing and praying we finish as high as possible. The difference between 16th and 9th is 7 places. £7 X £2million = £14million towards Sakho.

We have two games in hand over Swansea and Hull and even if we lose them (Liverpool & Spurs) we'll still be 4 points above Swansea with four games left. We play both Burnley and Hull at home which should give us the edge given how poor both are away from home. I really believe we'll get the points we need but as yesterday highlighted, we can't rely on those around us, we need to worry about our own fixtures and do the job for ourselves.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

Do we want Chelsea to beat Southampton on Tuesday night, so Spurs are further demoralised about a 7 point gap on Weds night?

Or do we want Chelsea to lose, so Spurs get over excited about being able to close the gap to 1 point and feel under pressure to beat us?

I'm thinking the former.

I tend to agree, although either way they will be up for our game as they will be hurting from the cup defeat and wanting to put everything into our game. Hoping for extra time yesterday to make them a little bit more tired, particularly as they have an extra day to recuperate over us !?! Anyway let's see how we get on today. COYP !!

Remaining fixtures :

Hull : Home - Sunderland, Tottenham Away - Southampton, C.Palace

We have the hardest run-in of the three.

Yes and both may well win another 2 games each.

That would have them on 37 & 39 points respectively.

As such we might need at least 2 draws.

Hulls last game is against Spurs who by that point may have conceaded the title and be on holiday having wrapped up second place. Where as we play United who may still be battling for fourth.

No way this isn't going to the wire people.

Personally I don't think we're safe without 40 points. 2 draws and a win or two wins please. Sooner rather than later!

Win today and draw on Wednesday or vica versa and we're above Stoke. So if they are on the beach, so would we be? But I bet not to some of the pessimists on here. Crikey I remember Oldham too well, but our current form suggests will get another win. Personally another point I think will be enough. Swansea won a winnable game. I suspect they'll lose at Old Trafford and at most get a point from Everton.

It seems to a few on here we're going to lose every remaining game! It's possible but on current form unlikely.

And Willo everything is so negative. I've heard of a glass half full but you're looking upon as if we're doomed already. Would you rather be in our position or Swansea's?

Yes I totally agree.
I have mentioned on here that it could all depend on the Man Utd game with us having to get something to stay up.

Yes it could. I think by this time next week we'll be on 39 points and Swansea will lose at Old Trafford. Meaning we will need 1 point. I think we'll be safe with 2 games to go. Have faith. Be optimistic!

I've been labelled "Negative" on here a few times but all I am doing is trying to be realistic about our plight and prospects.

Regarding our position v Swansea, of course with more points on the board etc etc we are better placed at this stage but when I look at the respective fixtures then I conclude that we are still in one herculean battle to avoid the drop.

If we lose today and against Tottenham (Likely results) then this would be a bitter blow to our confidence and of course our standing in the table and God forbid if Benteke gets injured this will make our prospects of survival much bleaker.

We might get something today or eve on Wednesday but it was always going to be the home games v Burnley and Hull.
Burnley will sit back whereas Hull will go for it because it is likely they will need to.
3 more points will likely see us safe and if it were to happen today at Anfield........................
