Say what you like, it is up there with racism for those that are LGBTQ. Having that thing a lot of football fans miss, a shred of empathy, and you would see that. There have been behind closed doors bans for racism across the football world. I would not be surprised for one second if it happened for homophobic chants, and that IS what they are.

I am 'B' in the LGBT(Q?) I find YOUR stance homophobic & upsetting. I think rivalry & chants to opposition teams/fans is brilliant. Its what makes the EPL/EFL the best leagues in the world.

NOT im my name.....get over it.

Personally, I find the chants a bit cringe and childish.

My main feeling on this, and whenever people get upset by what they see as 'PC gone mad' is how hard is it for you to not use it? Does it really bother you that much to use a different phrase or expression?

Especially when you know that people on 'our side' do find it offensive and intimidating. Why would you deliberately belittle other CPFC fans in this way?

On a more specific level with this chant, is there seriously nothing else witty or good we can come up with? Rhyming 'scored none' with 'take it up the bum', brilliant that is. This is supposed to be a rivalry built on the football field and that has history to it, why not sing about that instead? People big up how funny and witty football banter is, but this pretty crap isn't it?

Surely we're better than this?

It's harmless Bender Banter. I really couldn't give a sh*t if a handful of fragile, perpetually indignant, self-righteous people find it offensive.

That's the difference between you and I. You see it as a 'problem'. I don't. I'm sure that makes you feel warm inside and reinforces your sense of superiority. I'm happy for you.

This, this right here, is the crux of it. Gay people ragging on gay stuff is fine. Spurs fans calling themselves "yids" is fine. Black people calling themselves the "n" word (edited to avoid company filters) is fine. Someone not part of those minorities using the same words against them is - almost always - not fine.

The Jewish community certainly begs to differ!

A significant number of which are Spurs fans. Their description as the 'Yid Army' is theirs and theirs alone.

No,not warm and superior Funty..just sad that you don't give a monkey's because you decide something is not offensive and then resort to a silly dig...

Generally, the people who are most offended aren't the ones on the receiving end, and are generally middle class tosspots.

The chants themselves are unimaginative and tired, though. Something wittier would be better.

The 'silly dig' came from you, old sport, implying that my take on the matter is in some way representative of what you see as a 'problem'. I was merely replying to you with similar coin.

Well,Funty, yes I did say that people who don't give a toss if people are offended are IMHO the "problem" in getting to the point where "we" don't feel its clever or feel the need to resort to homophobia-derived "up the bum" chants against Brighton to wind them up..which is not the same as saying all those who sing them are homophobic or that I personally get amazingly uptight about it at games...
