What about Scott Dann? If not, Kelly and Delaney it will have to be. I was impressed with how Kelly handled himself in Sakho's absence previously, against Liverpool. Some said that Sakho was the only reason for his improvement

On this site some people will say anything whether they know what they are talking about or not.

My guess is that Kelly's huge improvement is because firstly he is playing in his preferred role and secondly his great improvement is in line with the improvements shown by quite a few other players which is assumedly down to the improved coaching and fitness regime

At last Kelly is showing what he's all about. Before he leaves Palace this man will show not just Palace but also Liverpool they initially underrated him as a central stopper.
To many he is the full back completely at sea against the inside ball, the mug against even a half-good winger and the target for penalty seekers. But he had more to his game than an out-of-position defensive flanker. Competitive in the air, bags of fight, a good positional sense and a very useful and care ful tackler. I've seen him do the Sol Campbell trick of ushering a player out to the corner flag, away from dangerous areas, quite a few times.
Watch this space, not just a money saver in the search for another decent cb, but a player other clubs will cherish.

So for at least the next 2 games we are down to just Kelly and Delaney - who would have thought that would ever happen?

Perhaps we can recall either Innis or Croll to have on the bench.

Kelly is 100% better in the centre. I agree his tackling reading of the game was superb and got late blocks and challenges to stop the spuds .... long may it continue

Gutted about Sakho. I'm guessing that is his season over. The vastly improved Kelly and old war horse Delaney will have to see us home. Beat Burnley and we don't have to worry about it until next season.

Looks like Kelly and Delaney for the next match ? If one of these got injured during a game (God forbid), Ward could always slot into central defence.

We could field The Shirley & District Conservative Association over 70's XI for our remaining matches and we still won't go down. Don't fret, pet.

A few people on Twitter are talking about a possible ACL injury. I don't know how that will stack up as I'm not a medical professional but I do know that in NFL, Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tore his ACL in August last year and we don't know if he'll be back before the end of this year. That's potentially at least 18 months out and we don't know if we'll see him again full stop :/

I do hope it's not that bad.
