Look for the vested (commercial) interest.

The motive, clearly, is to keep issues open for as long as possible so that the matches remain "interesting" until the last day. In this case, Sky will clearly not be happy if Palace v Hull is a dead rubber (for example). It's been retimed and advertised for some time, having been identified as a likely six-pointer.

On that point the scheduling is a scandal. The last weekend all the games have to be played at the same time so no team has an advantage and know what's wanted. Why is that the case on the last weekend and not for the previous, say, 8 games of the season? So much of football is played in the mind and making teams play before each other just ramps up the pressure and obviously affects the outcome of many games.

To be honest we should "throw" the City game by resting Townsend, Benteke, Wilf, Milo, Cabaye, Hennessy, PVA to make sure that they are well rested for the Hull game.
To hell with the FA and Premier League, after all what have they done for us - made us play 3 games in six days and given us the two worst refs they could find for Spurs and Burnley.

Handball has to be deliberate and if it is it's a yellow card. Funnily enough Barnes wasn't booked for deliberate handball. It's beyond pathetic, Madley is the worst of the bunch and believe me there's some strong competition in that bunch.

The answer is mainly to do with TV revenue. Staggering of the games spreads out viewer engagement and with TV sponsors also very instrumental. It's never about the sport but always about the dosh...

What a load of paranoid nonsense is being spouted on here. I thought the ref had a reasonably good game although he did fail to spot an obvious push on a Burnley player in our area which the whole of the Arthur saw. He was spot on with the handball decision which the linesman had a far better view and could have reasonably been expected to award a goal due to their relevant positions and the linesman's better view of the incident. As for the Wilf off-side decision, in real time from my position it looked to be clearly offside and there were no complaints either from fans or players at the time. Berate the linesmen by all means but the ref had little support throughout the match from either of them. We lost because we were abysmal and two poor passes from Milo in what was a very poor performance by him led to both goals. I am already worried about next season as on this performance we have a lot of work ahead of us.

Be careful what you say !
You realise you are NOT permitted to speak in positive terms about referees on HOL.

I'm no expert but time and time again I spot players manufacturing contact making it look like they are the innocent party and the crowd reacts wrongly when the ref is actually correct.Just watch next time a defender appears to be all over another player when the other player has actually backed in creating the incident. The ref's are wise enough to spot this. If the players cut out the cheating it would be easier for the officials although that will never happen unfortunately.

He did not have a clue about the handball or he would have blown up, he looked at the assistant who did not flag then he gave a free kick. The big decisions were the offside and the pen for a foul on Wilf not the reason we lost that was down to bad play from Luka and bad luck with injuries.
