At he time I though the reason we lost yesterday was our poor performance until I saw MotD this morning. At the time I wondered why Heaton (who had a good game) was not even spoken to but now I wonder as Wilf wasn't offside if Heaton will have a reciprocal red?? No of course not. 75mins against ten and 1-1 (assuming we hit the pen) maybe we would have gained the extra point yesterday. He was poor but thast opinion was as late as some Burnley tackles and as bad as some of his decisions.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

What a load of paranoid nonsense is being spouted on here. I thought the ref had a reasonably good game although he did fail to spot an obvious push on a Burnley player in our area which the whole of the Arthur saw. He was spot on with the handball decision which the linesman had a far better view and could have reasonably been expected to award a goal due to their relevant positions and the linesman's better view of the incident. As for the Wilf off-side decision, in real time from my position it looked to be clearly offside and there were no complaints either from fans or players at the time. Berate the linesmen by all means but the ref had little support throughout the match from either of them. We lost because we were abysmal and two poor passes from Milo in what was a very poor performance by him led to both goals. I am already worried about next season as on this performance we have a lot of work ahead of us.

The lino doesn't have a lot to do,and Wilf wasn't just offside, he was at least a yard on, the guy just guessed. And the other lino was equally incompetent when he "didn't see" Wilf get scythed down from behind with an illegal tackle which should have been a penalty, despite what Mr Shearer says.
Two awful pieces of officiating which had a great bearing on the result,no matter how badly we played.

Not a question of "Guessing".
The Assistant would have made a split-second decision in a fast moving scenario. If he got it wrong, well he is only human. How many players get it wrong during the course of a game ?

Time and time again, TV replays highlight very 'Tight' calls which are given correctly for offside decisions.

Well, Willo, just how wrong do you think the linesman should be allowed to be when making these calls? This wrong?

If the linesman is in the right place, getting this call wrong is impossible.

The incorrect off side decision was given by the linesman and not the ref. The correct hand ball decision was given by the ref not the linesman. The possible foul on Wilf in the area? I've watched half a dozen replays and still can't make up my mind. If the ref isn't certain then he can't give a decision. We had our luck against both Chelsea and Liverpool. We got precisely what we deserved yesterday as we were very poor. How much of that was down to playing 3 games in 6 days I don't know.

I reckon it's the same guy who ran the line in the Real Madrid/Bayern game earlier this month. Shocking !

His performance yesterday was shocking. Didn't think it was a penalty but he gave us pretty much nothing the entire game and every time a Burnley player fell to the floor he gave them a free kick. It was just biased. It was like we were playing manure at Old Trafford the amount of decisions that didn't go our way.

That by no means was a tight call.
The lino was weak and was influenced by the screaming Middlesborough fans behind him.

The handball decision for the goal was given by the 4th official, Andre Mariner, after the referee spent five seconds looking at the linesman for help (and got none), knowing that something was amiss by the players reaction. The same black haired linesman on the Old Stand side had probably the worst game of his life and was so off with his throw in decisions that at one point Bobby Madley overruled by blowing his whistle and deliberately pointing for the throw in our favour and gave him a really hard look. Despite those attempts at trying to appear fair he was a useless t*** and got many decisions wrong.

TalkSport on Weds took the view that supporters of any cub will blame the officials if they lose, regardless of the performance, however Jon Moss and Bobby Madley (and to be fair the assistants) have shown just how bad the officiating can be in this league. When you add the three pen decisions that Spurs, City and United got today and the Chelsea pen in the FA Cup semi, you also have to say that the players don't help the refs with the way that they play act and simulate contact. Wilf was fouled and should have got a pen, but why Sane, Kane and Rashford got away with it today is a mystery. The sooner video tech is in place the better.

All looks really simple with such a "Freeze frame".

You try to run the line when at pace a player is stepping out and another is running through and you will realise what a difficult job it is.

And I repeat, TV has recently shown some excellent shots of some really 'Tight' calls being made correctly.

Which is exactly why football should adopt video replay just like every other major sport on the globe. Football has become a joke over its resistance to this. Cheers Blatter
